Amazing image of volcanic ash and lightning

I've just found this amazing image (taken by Reuters in 2011).
"A cloud of volcanic ash from an Eritrean volcano reaches Eilat while residents of the North cope with unseasonal rain."

It could have well illustrate some explanations in Pierre's book about electrical activity :scared:
 
Again, these are amazing pictures! Wow, to be able to witness that (from the photigraoher's perspective), let alone capturing those exact images at that moment! Thanks so much for sharing them.

Yes thanks for these! Seeing these kind of shots takes me back to when I used to dream of becoming a photographer (mainly landscape shots & wildlife) but alas, no dice. I tell you, Hollywood wish they could make their shots as real as this! :D

It's a really fascinating show, yes, but I keep in mind it is also a potentially deadly show. I imagine the area of such an event must be saturated of a tension nearly palpable.

I wonder if this kind of combination (volcano's ash + lighting) is something we can expect to be more and more common...
