American Sniper

The Living Force
This movie depicts the experiences of Chris Kyle, the most successful sniper in the U.S. military. Most of the film plays in Iraq after 9/11, plus his visits home to his family and his increasing PTSD symptoms.

Well, I had very mixed feelings about this movie. On the one hand, it was quite well done - directed by Clint Eastwood and main role by Bradley Cooper. On the other hand, it was almost like a whitewash for the illegal invasion of Iraq. They literally hunt for a high ranking member of Al-Qaida in Iraq - suggesting once again that there was a direct link between 9/11 and the Iraq invasion. That was just despicable.

Then there is also the blind faith of the main character that he is living in "the greatest country on Earth" and he wants to protect it from the "savages". Interestingly, this movie was based on the book written by the actual Chris Kyle who was killed in 2013 after finishing his book in 2012 and before this movie in 2014/2015. He was killed by another veteran at a shooting range.

Even more interesting is that Chris Kyle was sued by Jesse Ventura, because Kyle claimed in his book and on TV that he punched Ventura because Ventura allegedly talked badly about America and the military. Ventura won that process and was awarded close to $2 million. The controversy apparently helped the sales of Kyle's book.

So there is something very fishy about this whole Chris Kyle story.

IMO, Kyle is most likely a candidate for a diagnosis of psychopathy. He openly boasts about enjoying killing and continues to do so, not as if it's a part of his past. I've known friends who were in the military who barely escaped suicide over the guilt of what they've done. Kyle is the exact opposite. If that's not a psychopath, it's a severely damaged human mind.

Well, he does not come across as a psychopath in the movie. Haven't read the book of the actual Chris Kyle. In the movie, one of the hardest things for him is having to shoot at a child who attacks the troops on the ground. Also, he does not boast at all in the movie.

He lied about the Ventura incident, apparently lied about several other things, for example killing a (couple?) carjackers stateside...lying about these things to promote his own image is not congruent with a reasonable human, to say the least. And while I can empathize with soldiers being put in a position of having to do their jobs in an illegal war, to never question the legitimacy of the war and ones actions in it; to justify ones murder of people in an illegal war of aggression does present a lack of the critical capacity which might resonate with the idea of a conscience.

There are a few articles on sott that portray the mindset of chris kyle. Here is one.

It's a movie, not a documentary, so you should take everything in it regarding Chris Kyle's character with a grain of salt.

I'd say the 'humanity' in the above example is pretty twisted, even if it were true. It's good to keep in mind that the troops weren't sent there on any kind of benevolent mission. It's was for pure destructive chaos and I can't empathize with a US soldier 'having' to kill a child in Iraq.

Well, that's pretty obvious, isn't it? That's why I'm saying that the fictionalized movie version of Chris Kyle is not psychopathic - while the actual Chris Kyle does seem to have these characteristics.

This article on sott.net says pretty much the same:
Kyle admits in his own memoir that he enjoyed the act of killing people, which he claims to have done 255 times. Meanwhile, the movie adaptation American Sniper reportedly portrays Kyle as a much more human character.

That is scary. People's ignorance and hatred never cease to amaze me.

From what I've read about Chris Kyle, he likely did not suffer from PTSD. This seems to afflict only those with a conscience.

Today some of my friends asked me if I wanted to watch this movie with them.

I said no thanks, if I need to hear the story of these wars I can turn on the news and see it for free.

One of my friends said but it's about PTSD... oh, so they pick the guy who probably didn't have PTSD in how he speaks of killing, to represent those poor soldiers who get little to no treatment or help for their REAL PTSD?

I'm so freaking sick of this horse hockey in the media.

Agreed. I haven't really read much about him. The Oscars hype is doing the rounds with in-depth reviews/previews of mostly pathological re-writes of modern atrocities, & whitewashing of the older ones like WWI & WWII. But this movie & the responses are exactly what the empire wants & NEEDS right now. That is... SUPPORT. Kill people in strategic places, pop up a video of "Muslims" (or whoever else might fit their whims) & leave "evidence." Then have a rally, a concert or some such thing, then let Hollywood scriptwriters (with the studio executives pushing for the official narratives, as always) go to work on increasing the level of ponerization. The above quoted tweets are of no surprise & honestly, I can't even get angry at them anymore, I'm just too tired. I mean that social media is saturated with this madness all day, every day. You don't even have to go looking for it. Go to YouTube or any other of the "big boys" & watch a video on some weather phenomenon. An area in America & some people's houses are destroyed for example. Predictably (I'm so used to it now) or even randomly, a comment or more will say "I blame the (insert profanity of choice) Muslims." Or similar comments. When there's no Muslims in the area or state & anyway, what do Muslims have to do with a tornado, or lightning strikes or floods? I'm not joking either. A crap example I know but seriously, watch out for how many times a day you come across insane comments on ANY social media platform.

And since the Oscar's are still a month away (I think) what are the odds on not only this claptrap winning an award, (thus kept in the public's mind for longer) but another attack in "the west" to coincide?

If these "tweeters" grasped the extent those "opinions" are constructed for them, it would be difficult for them to retain their arrogance. But I suppose knowing that would impel them question themselves, which in many cases would start a path many wouldn't want to go down. Thats maybe the point a lot of people just turn a blind eye to the facts.

I suppose that was the point of the movie, to make him look human. He's a serial killer of the worst kind.
