Article about a man who asked his friend to video him whilst he violently assaulted his dog, although not seriously injured, this person is just sick.

"His friend filmed the attack on his mobile phone, but later handed the footage over to the RSPCA.

An investigation followed and Stewart, who works as a cleaner, was arrested and charged. He pleaded guilty to a single count of causing unnecessary suffering to an animal.

Stewart was jailed for eight weeks, suspended for 18 months, and ordered to pay costs of £2,000.

He was also banned from keeping any animal as a pet for five years."

Cruelty to animals is inexcusable. Unfortunately there's a lot of that in the US, though what is covered by the press are not unspeakably cruel factory farming practices - in fact, laws have been passed to criminalize even documenting or reporting those corporate abuses - but cruelty to domestic animals.

Here's just one recent story in the local press: _http://www.kgw.com/news/Arrest-made-after-Washougal-cat-deliberately-run-over-224431861.html .

The US Pacific Northwest is little unusual in the US, in that the lack of civilization gradient is fairly steep as one travels away from the cities, especially away from the major interstate highways. Although the big cities like Seattle and Portland are fairly cosmopolitan, one doesn't have to go far outside them in some directions to find more backward communities. There are some certifiable idiot yahoos out there.
