Same as usual, look identical to many other "missile Launch". Don't know if this one was announced in advance, anyone know where to look for that info.

It was mentioned here. It was a launch of military satellite called Meridian from Plesetsk.

I found another video that also states that it was Meridian. But on the video you can clearly see that it isn't that dark as on other videos. And it doesn't have the same hand fan effect. So don't know what's up with that. Maybe it's another launch.

It would be interesting to find older videos of launches to compare and see if they also had the same effect. If they didn't, it could indicate clear composition changes in the atmosphere.

Thanks Keit for the link, I bookmarked it for future launch.

Some more video and picture with the atmospheric phenomenon of this last launch.http://www.newsbcm.com/doc/806

Here are some good picture and video from launch in 2009 and 2010, it as the same effect in the atmosphere;http://www.thelivingmoon.com/49ufo_files/03files2/Rocket_Launches_Caught_on_Film_Russian.html

There is the following video taken in Vytegra, Russia on 22 of June. (warning: strong language in Russian)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SC3ICy66m4s&feature=player_embedded

According to this site, there were no launches on this date. One was on 21st of June from Baikonur, Kazakhstan, and the other from Plesetsk on 27th of June.

Kazakhstan is too far away to think it would be visible, but just in case this particular launch from Plesetsk wasn't mentioned, used google maps to see the distance between both cities.
_http://maps.google.com/maps?saddr=Russian+Federation,+Arkhangel%27skaya+oblast,+Plesetsk&daddr=Russian+Federation,+Vologodskaya+oblast,+Vytegra&hl=en&ll=61.882048,38.946533&spn=2.143892,10.821533&sll=37.0625,-95.677068&sspn=28.887524,86.572266&mra=ls&t=h&z=7

Seems too far away too, but maybe not? In any case, it wasn't mentioned on the site. So this one is unannounced.

Wonder if it fits the following:

Q: (Perceval) The thing that we thought was a comet over Kazakhstan, was it a rocket from the Russians as reported?

A: No.

Q: (Perceval) Was it a comet?

A: Yes.

Q: (Perceval) It looked like a comet from what we know about comets.

A: Fragment. Expect a lot of the "rocket launch" excuses. If it was really a "rocket launch" they would have been able to announce it in advance.

edit: fixed link

Interesting. I wonder why the 'tail' continues to glow like that?

And where did it go? It just sort of vanished. Spent comet fragment burning out in the upper atmosphere? Things are getting interesting, Thanks Keit.
