'Attack' on US embassy in Syria

The US embassy in Damascus is reported to have come under attack, with reports of heavy gunfire and loud explosions.
Security forces have sealed off the Rawda area, which houses other embassies, security installations and senior officials' residences.

There has been no official confirmation of developments in Damascus, which has seen sporadic unrest in recent years.

Syria is an authoritarian state where the security forces exert tight control on the population and the media.

A security source told the BBC it is believed Syrian forces may have foiled a bomb attack on the US embassy.

Ambulances and fire engines were seen rushing to the area through the mid-morning traffic.

A BBC correspondent in the region says the reported attack comes at a time of heightened tensions between the Washington and Damascus, with bitterness in Syria over US support for Israeli military action in Lebanon.

The US accuses Syria of supporting the insurgency in Iraq and not doing enough to prevent weapons going to Hezbollah militants in Lebanon.

In April 2004, four people were killed in a clash between Syrian police and a team of suspected bombers in the diplomatic quarter of Damascus.

The authorities accused Islamic militants of trying to blow up an explosives-laden car near the Canadian embassy.

Well, here's what Condi has to say about it

Too soon to say who attacked Syria embassy: Rice

It is too early to say who might have been behind a failed attack on the U.S. Embassy in Syria, U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice said on Tuesday.

Four men shouting Islamic slogans tried to blow up the embassy in Damascus, but their car bomb failed to go off and Syrian security guards killed three of them in a shootout. The state news agency SANA said a Syrian guard was also killed.

"It's too early to tell who might have been responsible for the attack ... We will have to do the forensics," Rice told a news conference in the eastern Canadian town of Stellarton after talks with Foreign Minister Peter MacKay of Canada.

Rice thanked Syrian security forces and expressed condolences over the death of the guard.

"I do think that the Syrians reacted to this attack in a way that helped to secure our people, and we very much appreciate that," she said.

"Unfortunately ... it is possible for people to make attacks of this kind despite the fact that we do make an extraordinary effort to ... have facilities that are not capable of being attacked. I will say that I'm just very grateful that the attack did not in that sense succeed."

Rice also warned Iran that the United States would pursue sanctions in the U.N. Security Council unless Tehran suspended its nuclear enrichment and processing activities.
Y'all can go back to sleep now...we'll let you know when we decide which lie to feed you this time. (Someone should have told her False Flag Day was YESTERDAY). Really quite stunning. In one short statement Condi throws the blame on "Islamic militants", makes them seem stupid (couldn't even get their car bomb to go off) and made it seem like the US is fairly investigating the attack while encouraging the public to turn their brains off as their trusty government handles everything.

Given Condi's statement I'd say it was a false flag operation gone bad. Let's see how they identify the ones who were killed at the scene. If they simply pass them off as "unknown assailants" then to me they were Mossad. The only other possibility for me would be locals who were used as manchurian candidate types. However in that case the ptb would have been prepared and gotten more mileage out of the "incident". My money is on the Syrians busting up a Mossad op.

Snowalker says ,''Given Condi's statement I'd say it was a false flag operation gone bad. ''

My guess is the same. Just when the PTB was looking for a "justification" for attacking Syria and what's more, they are thinking of Syria as an easy bite compared to Iran. They are trying to isolate Iran from every direction both strategically for a military action and they have also started the so called diplomatic isolation. These guys are really crazy.

I hadn't seen this thread before I started a new one. Anyway, here's what I posted.

A couple of years ago something similar went on in Macedonia, albeit with a different flavor.

Killings 'staged to win US support'

AP in Skopje
Saturday May 1, 2004
The Guardian

Macedonian police acknowledged yesterday that the killing of seven alleged Pakistani terrorists two years ago was staged to win US support and that the victims were innocent illegal immigrants.

A police spokeswoman, Mirjana Konteska, told reporters that six people, including three former police commanders, two special police officers and a businessman, have been charged with murder.

The action was carried out in March 2002 by special Macedonian police who claimed to have eliminated a terrorist group allegedly plotting to attack embassies in Macedonia.

Article continues
Ms Konteska said the seven were in fact illegal immigrants lured into Macedonia by promises that they would be transferred to western Europe.

She said they were transported to Rastanski Lozja, five miles north-east of Skopje, where they were gunned down.

There was no immediate comment from diplomats in Macedonia. Top western envoys had demanded an investigation into the killing.

Macedonia has been a close US ally in the Balkans and has staunchly supported the US-led war on terrorism, including sending troops to Iraq.

The former interior minister Ljube Boskovski, who was the police chief at the time, is also likely to be charged if parliament revokes his immunity from prosecution. He has denied the allegations.
Instead of trying to provoke an attack against Syria, maybe the Syrians instigated a false flag op to short circuit such an event.

The Syrians say it was a US false-flag attempt.

At any rate, I am amazed and shocked at the sour reaction from Rice to Syria's effective protection of our embassy. She has no manners, none of Bush's people do.

True - but replace the word 'manners' with 'conscience', 'empathy', 'humanity' or 'soul' and you get even closer to the point.

and - we should combine this thread into the one here - http://www.cassiopaea.org/forum/index.php?topic=3250
