g day all,
I have the opportunity to buy a breeding pair of pigs...pedigree long white boar and berkshire x sow
I was wondering if any aussie members would like to become part owners for a future stake in the pigglets

my plan is to free range them (Joel Salatin permaculture style http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BIbXU5iR2P4) with as little grain (bio-dynamic) as possible
some grain does help to keep them tame and addicted to you feeding them aka 'love' you

that way you know where your bacon/pork comes from...and you can come and visit ''your'' pig too :)

I have not bought them yet ,its still in the planning phase,so what do you guys think ?
all suggestions welcome

Hi rrraven,

I think it's a great idea and I would love to participate. However, your place is quite remote from what I understand. Have you looked into how to distribute the pork?

Very interested, only problem is the logistics, I live in the Top End ...

I recently bought a whole pig from the butcher, however pedigree and feeding unknown. Tried very hard to find pasture-fed pork up here, next to impossible. Also farmers from down south are very reluctant to ship the whole carcass or packed and frozen - unlike beef, where this is easy to organise ...
