I got 'Medical Medium's' book "Liver Rescue" as a Christmas present from my wife's sister (she's completely brain washed by this con artist). I had previously read enough about this guy to know he was a scammer, but I decided to read a few pages to see if there was any real substance behind his claims. Well, I managed to read ca 15 pages until I just had to stop, because it was such complete nonsense. However, it was a good exercise to "spot the errors". The foremost red flags were 1) the author glorifies himself as "the only one who knows these things" 2) the information is not based on
any scientific literature; the information is channeled
only to the author and we should just take his word for it 3) some of the information is clearly plagiarized from various sources, but not in any coherent way 4) the information and 'advice' goes clearly against many things I believe to be true, that I've learned e.g. through this forum and related sources.
The sad part of it is that the 'Medical Medium' has millions of followers and has sold millions of books, and god knows how these believers are doing health-wise after following his crazy and dangerous recommendations. This scammer should absolutely be exposed, he is endangering people's health!
Added: to answer your question, I agree with Chu, and would add that one of the down sides of mistakenly reading a "bad" book is that you could have used the time for reading a "good" book instead. But with time you develop better discernment (e.g. by reading "bad" books!
) so that you can dismiss the sources of disinfo much faster. Or, as Gurdjieff said, you grow a stronger 'magnetic center' for attracting 'B-influences' (for that, read
In Search of The Miraculous by Ouspensky, if you haven't done so).
