beautiful haunting vocals

My wife and I have to force back the tears when we hear this. And we can't figure out why. Any ideas?
It brings to mind elongated forms, a team of brothers working together in a circle, preparing food despite bone-deep feelings of sadness and loss. 5th density? definitely not of this world.

Well it certainly didn't have impact you describe on me. In fact I found it irritating. This is my personal, highly subjective impression.

It sounds weird because of the electronic voice manipulation. This reminded me of Cher, which is bad thing - at least for me.

Sounds like they are using auto-tune. It takes any voice/sound and forces it to be in tune with a given musical scale, making it sound artificial and digitized in the process. Here it is used on obama speeches:

I personally prefer someone being able to naturally sing, because with auto-tune you can't tell if the singer can actually sing without it or not.

It sounds to me as if those "5th density vocals" are nothing more than computer-enhanced vocals. It's a technique which is used a lot these days. Still, if you get something out of it, then good for you.

With so many wanderers incarnated here, I'm guessing some of them are in the music business, and I'm guessing this vocalist is one of them. Because there is definitely something he's layered into his vocals, something otherworldly and positive. That was more what I was hoping to discuss.

btw That's not autotune. It's a vocoder. Which, after 13 years of voice enhancement in our culture since that Cher song, I don't even notice it anymore. Must be a cultural divide we couldn't cross.
