I just found, in the on-line edition of DerStandard, an Austrian newspaper, the following picture, which shows some numbers about beer production/consumption in select countries. It reads "The greatest Beer-Nations / In Millions of Hectoliters / *Estimate / (Source: Barth Report)

(in case the in-line link to the pic is suppressed, the article is here _hxxp://derstandard.at/?id=2968692)

What caught my attention is the increase in these numbers between 1990 and 2006 in countries at the periphery or 'newly' in the NWO, like China, Turkey (!) or Vietnam, and, in contrast, how these numbers remain more or less constant or even decrease significantly in most countries known for their love of beer at the 'center' of the empire, like Germany, USA or Japan.

Ah, the cause to pause and refresh hits the spot at this time of year! What a pleasant topic.

Now those statistics are really interesting, and revealing. No doubt the rise in disposable income along with the opening up to imports has broadened the habits of folks in the emerging-market nations. Also, no doubt this is the direct effect of the globalization crowd’s work.

I really enjoy a great brew during the summer and fall. An Ettaler Curator dunkel dopplebock or a Weihenstephaner dopplebock are such a delight right now.

Sadly, as the US dollar continues to have no real competition in the race to see which fiat currency will inflate the most and the fastest, I will likely be seeking out local production from micro breweries. And, maybe I will be pleasantly surprised. But, as the beer list at a favorite local German restaurant states after 3 pages of great brews, “AND...IF YOU DON'T REALLY LIKE BEER ___ Miller Lite." Such has been the legacy of US breweries for the most part.

sorry, couldn't resist it!

On a more serious note, it is interesting that beer consumption is pretty much level over 15 years in the UK, despite the gov's recent hysteria over binge drinking.

Well, they need to meet over pint or two to think about it ;)
Seriously, "accepted" levels of alcohol consumption are highly localizes and based on countries perception of what is an "accepted" level. There is also an issue of stress and exposure to "western culture". Turkey is not a country to go suddenly on a drunkard increase unless there is an increase in social (and primary secular) awareness that alcohol is cool and ok. There is also issue of tourists.
