I dreamed I was at the hospital where I used to work . There was a banquet going on for the administration and I was there ,for some reason (in the dream it seemed perfectly natural for me to be there). I was sitting in a chair and looking around at the surroundings when I noticed that there were some very large bugs crawling around on the floor which looked like giant cockroaches. I put my glasses on to get a closer look and realized that they were actually some kind of exotic fluorescent green beetles. I then got up and went to the table where the buffet was arranged. There was a huge angry rat in plain view on the table between the platters of food. The rat was angry with me because I was the only one who could see it or the "beetles". I had the distinct impression that this large, muscular, intelligent looking rat had some kind of artificial intelligence. As I looked at the rat, I realized that I knew how to pick it up in a way that it could not bite or scratch me and that it was unfortunate for it that I had discovered it in this disguised form because it was very vulnerable. I grabbed it by the backbone and crushed it with my grip. In the dream, although it was obvious that this creature was very evil and dangerous, I was absolutely calm and self-assured.
This would seem like just an ordinary weird dream to me if not for this fact. Today I was standing in my kitchen when I felt something fall on me from the ceiling. It touched my shoulder and fell on the floor. When I stooped down to look at it, I saw that it was one of the beetles like in the dream. I have never seen this kind of beetle before in my life. I caught it and put it outside. The napkin that I used to protect it from being crushed and to protect my hand from being bitten or pinched had a very peculiar smell on it afterwards. I had the same feeling of indifference as in the dream state. No fear, disgust or any negative feeling, just inner calmness.
