Al Qaeda Trying to Change the Look of Terror
Group Is Training Europeans, Americans to Use in Attacks, CIA Chief Says

By JOHN HENDREN
WASHINGTON, March 30, 2008

The nation's spymaster said the United States faces an imminent threat of attack from al Qaeda fighters training today along Pakistan's mountainous frontier with Afghanistan.

And the attackers, he says, will look like many of us.

"It's very clear to us that al Qaeda has been able, over the past 18 months or so, to establish a safe haven along the Afghan/Pakistan border area that they have not enjoyed before," CIA Director Gen. Michael Hayden said on NBC's "Meet the Press" program.

"That they are bringing operatives into that region for training, operatives that ... wouldn't attract your attention if they were going through the customs line at Dulles with you when you're coming back from overseas," he said.

U.S. intelligence analysts say al Qaeda knows it can't return again with an attack by 19 Arabs, as they did during the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks.

Instead, former senior U.S. officials say, these days they favor blond-haired, blue-eyed recruits.

Former senior U-S officials say the Bush administration is particularly concerned that attackers bearing European passports would breeze through U.S. airports.

"The use of Europeans and Americans makes travel much easier, the passports they carry make entry much easier," said Michael Sheuer, former head of the CIA's Osama bin Laden unit and author of "Marching Toward Hell: America and Islam after Iraq."

"And I think the fact that their current rhetoric is much more aggressive and confident, than it had been over the past year or two suggests they have the operatives they want to attack the United States," Sheuer said.

'Clear and Present Danger'

The Pakistani government has always had trouble controlling the restive territory that borders Afghanistan. In late 2006, U.S. intelligence and military analysts say, Pakistan privately concluded it had failed in a military campaign to control the territory along its border with Afghanistan.

So President Pervez Musharraf agreed to let the tribal leaders -- who are accused of sheltering bin Laden -- essentially police themselves.

The result, Hayden says: an "absolute disaster" that presents a "clear and present danger" to the west, particularly the United States.

Hayden said the United States is doing everything it can to capture or kill bin Laden and al Qaeda's top leaders.

To find them, amid reports of intensified U.S. air strikes, today the United States, Pakistan and Afghanistan opened the first of six joint military intelligence centers along the lawless border.

News releases like this one can give us a good indication of what the near future might hold. It looks like the CIA-da is about to strike again to help bolster US public support for another war. Seeing all the signs, it looks like a 'grand finale' is about to begin that will enable the PTB to shock us into a state of total submission. It's looking up to be quite an interesting spring/summer... :O

In other words they're going to use the same tactics as the Israelis. How extrodinary that they should think of that! Just as well nobodys figured out that it was an inside job yet.

I wonder after the event (presuming it does happen) how much this will be spun by the media...i.e. will it be the last part to lock everyone down? fear your neighbour....report 'strange' behaviour....papers please...no travel etc etc

Actually...if the events big enough they could technically use that to lock down most of the globe..travelwise anyway...the 'homeland security' measures would just be a tiny step away after that (think the same global impact as 911...if not bigger)

I wonder what kind of evidence they have for their analysis? One could get the impression that everybody is a potential terrorist by what they're saying. Listening to CIA-da talk about Al Qaeda sounds like a sheep listening to a wolf for advice and objective information. The wolf might not eat the sheep straight away but the time eventually comes when the wolf attempts to eat the sheep.

Keeping the average person hysterical, submitted, fearful, in-line with the pathocratic point of view, seems to be furthered with this article. What a scary and crazy world we live in! Being bombarded with propaganda, and danger at every corner, seems the order of the day. "See, in my line of work you got to keep repeating things over and over and over again for the truth to sink in... to kind of catapult the propaganda."-George W. Bush. Maybe one could replace "truth" with "lies" in the quote.

And the attackers, he says, will look like many of us.
Judging by this telling sentence above I think Redfox and Ael are spot on in their analysis. This sounds to me like more programming for the masses. I say this because it seems to fit an ongoing agenda of many western governments and media outlets, which seek to make everyone a suspect of some form of “terror” or criminal activity (similar to the recent moves here in the UK to use CCTV cameras to identify people parking in the wrong places and criminalise a greater percentage of the population). The populace is being led to believe that everyone around them, friends, neighbours and family as possible criminals or terrorist’s, and anyone not conforming to the robotic and programmed norm is a possible threat or criminal with intentions to cause harm.

As Ael has mentioned, this will help to keep people in a state of constant fear and growing paranoia. this will only feed the system that creates it and would in turn make those inclined to believe such propaganda agree that more control and big brother type surveillance of ordinary people is necessary.
