bladder infection

Hi, my uncle has been suffering from a bladder infection for the last few months. He's 69 but quite healthy. He gets about a weeks antibiotics which work but once they stopped the infection comes back. Is causing him quite a lot of discomfort and you can see in his behavior straight away when its there and when its not. I've learned a few things from sott and have sent my uncle articles about vitamin D and vitamin C and have been telling him about the problems of gluten and dairy. I'd like to help him get rid of this if I can, but can't find anything on the website about infections. I mentioned silver and my uncle did some research into it but said that on the list of things it could help, bladder infections wasnt there.

Any advice?

Hi mugatea,

I've used D Mannose successfully to treat bladder infections.

D-Mannose is a natural occurring simple sugar that appears to be a safe, practical alternative for the treatment of urinary tract infections (UTI’s). D-Mannose is absorbed eight times slower than glucose, and when ingested, is not converted to glycogen or stored in the liver, but rather goes directly to the blood stream from the upper GI tract. Hence, D-Mannose is mostly filtered through the kidneys and routed to the bladder.

The bladder lining is comprised of polysaccharide molecules. Finger-like projections on the cell surface of E. coli bacteria adhere to these molecules, initiating an infection. In the presence of D-Mannose, E. coli preferentially attach to D-Mannose molecules forming a complex which is expelled with the next voiding.

D-Mannose probably works 80-90% of the time because the bacteria disabled by Mannose causes 80-90% of UTI’s. Whereas antibiotic treatment radically changes GI bacterial populations required for good health, potentially causing fungal or gastrointestinal infections, D-Mannose removes “bad” bacteria by attachment and voiding.

I agree, D-mannose is the way to go. He can even try it every 3 to 4 hours while awake. After the infection is under control, he can follow label instructions and stay on it for as long as needed in order to be free from infection. Some people stay on it for years, just to make sure.

Me and my wife had it too, it was difficult to stop it, than we moved and it stopped somehow. My father said it was in the house, specially in the water, because of the instalation. Old metal pipes probably copper. It never came again.
Maybe it helps to search in different direction.

thanks guys, D-Mannose sounds good, get onto that as soon as. Interesting statement about old pipes, the houses we live in have led pipes.

thanks

Another possibility is Uva-Ursi. You can buy it as a tincture made by A Vogel, or in capsule form.

From the first link above:

Uva-ursi has urinary antiseptic properties by virtue of a glycoside known as arbutin. The way this substance works in urinary tract infection is unique. Arbutin is absorbed by the body and broken down to hydroquinone and glucose. Hydroquinone is then excreted into the urine, where it exerts a direct antiseptic action in the kidneys and bladder. This action is stronger in alkaline urine so a fruit and vegetable based diet is recommended if UTIs are recurrent.

He could take bicarbonate of soda - half a teaspoon in a half glass of water - twice a day to alkalinise his body. As he is over 60, he should not take more than three half-teaspoon doses in any 24 hour period.

Although I am otherwise healthy, bladder infection has somehow crept up on me a few weeks ago. I have had two courses of antibiotics now (plus flora-balance tablets), and after the latest test the doctor said the infection is still there, although a bit better. I have to get medication for it tomorrow, but I really do not want to go that way if at all possible and researched bladder infection on the Forum. Should I try everything mentioned on this page together - the D-Mannose, Vogel's Uva-Ursi and the bicarbonate of soda to really zap it? I am also 69, like the uncle in the first post.

Thanks, Ynna

Hi Ynna,
I recently had a bladder infection. I would highly recommend the D Mannose. I found immediate relief from the pain and urgency feeling. Here's an article from Dr. Mercola on UTI's and D Mannose.

I hope your feeling better soon. :)

Nano-catalytic silver hydrosols make short work of UTI and bladder infections. Since the elemental silver particles are primarily excreted through urine, the majority of a single dose passes directly through the bladder within 24 hours.

My first experience with this technology, 15 years ago, was in applying it to my female dog who had been unsuccessfully treated for her chronic bladder infection with several different antibiotic regimens. The symptoms during the antibiotic therapy would subside but come roaring back when the drugs were gone. I gave her one 5 ml dose of the silver which terminated the symptoms within 3 hours. I gave her another dose the next morning and the day after, when we were scheduled for a vet appointment to draw urine for a lab analysis. The vet called me a few days later with the lab results which indicated a totally sterile urine sample. He was somewhat puzzled by this as he had never seen a completely sterile report, post antibiotic regimen. After antibiotics there is always a presence of residual bacteria in the bladder which the immune system is supposed to take care of. She never suffered another infection.

After that experience I began taking the silver sols myself. You can learn more about this new medical silver technology at our website. _http://lifesilver.com/facts/ After spending a few years familiarizing myself with this new technology I realized that there was insufficient public awareness about this very effective non-toxic alternative to antibiotics, hence the website was created. A great many of the accredited university studies and clinical trials are posted there in their entirety. Knowledge protects.
