Blind Injustice

I saw a sott article titled Ignorance is Bliss (which I am about to read), and it reminded me of a poem that I wrote when I was 16 years old. To my amazment I still remember the entire poem. I don't write many poems. This one was written in 1994.

Blind Injustice

Homocide, Suicide
Wives getting beat
Homeless men will work for food living on the street
Broken homes, unfaithfulness, ending in divorce
Rape victems, unspeakable violence, sex by force
The sudden rise of pot, the popularity of weed
Alcohol the only friend some got,
Corruption, Money, Greed
Prostitution, Fornication, Pornography
Overeating Outcast, Conformity
Hungry kids in China, the national debt
War and poverty, signs God wept
STDs, she couldn't be a tease
Nursing homes, old and lonley
All this proves is one thing only,
This world is nothing but a deep dark abyss
I hope you cannot see it
Ignorance is bliss.

(Now when I wrote I hope you cannot see it, Ignorance is bliss, I was being sarcastic.)

That is a pretty clear view you had at 16 and I still think it is as relevant today as it was then. Thank you for sharing it :)
