Okay, I've been paleo for a while, but I still occasionally get gout (likely it's the wine...).
I hurt my back in January, and it's taken a long time to heal. My naturopath thinks I still have too much Uric acid in my system (hence the gout), and that acid is causing the back muscles to take a long time healing.
Recently I've (granted, self diagnosed) found I've got a duodenal ulcer (hunger like pain, but stronger and quite uncomfortable). Now, I'm not averse to seeing doctors, but considering my last one had no interest in my health beyond my prescription regimen, I stopped going. No more statins for me thank you very much.
I tried dealing with the ulcer a few ways, but ended up with a modified version of Laura's suggestion. I don't have a juicer, but eating lots of raw cabbage has, in one day, seemingly wiped out an ulcer I've been fighting with for weeks. Amazing.
But it got me thinking about blood pH after recently reading about a German doctor who believes that pH can control the effectiveness of cancer. Basically, he felt that all cancer patients had acidic blood, and I assume his theory relates to making it more alkaline.
I have more reading to do on the subject, but just wanted to float this if anyone else had read about this or someone similar? To me it can't be a coincidence that I have high Uric acid, and soon after an ulcer forms (from a bacterial imbalance no less).
