According to a report of the National Unit of Archaeology, what has been discovered is "a paleontological footprint of the tertiary epoch, when the mountain chain of the Andes was being formed and especially the mountainous countries near to the lake Titicaca ".
"The footstep of the Inka " might become the most ancient human petrified footprint, if the analyses that have been elaborated from this fossil confirm its age.
The vestige that is located in the Paceño altiplane - in a place called Sullkatiti Lawaqullu-, was discovered in October, 2007.
The importance of the find is that the footprint "does not coincide with information that the modern science has about the emergence of the human beings in the planet.
At present, the oldest known human footprint is the one that has been found by Egyptian archeologists in August of last year, which it is estimated has two million years.
For this reason, the "Footprint of the Inka " would be fundamental to the analysis of the history of the human species, since according to the previous analyses, this footprint might be between ten and fifteen million years old.
After being discovered by Fanny Pimentel, the footprint was photographed and later presented to the technical team of the “Community of the Ancient Wisdom”, which for 30 years has studied the pre-hispanic cultures, and has centers in Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Ecuador and Peru.
Three months later began the process of investigation, which included podiatric
analysis, which determined that it was a human adult footprint, of between 1,70 to 1,75 meters of stature with a weight of approximately 70 kilos and of a robust body size.
Besides, and according to the report of the chiropodist Guillermo Lazcano, the footprint had five fingers, had trend to the high instep and the width of the fingerprint determines that it developed in irregular areas, as rocks or sand.
After the analysis of the anatomy of the foot, an anthropologic evaluation determined that the rock " belongs to a rocky chain of an antiquity bigger than 7 million years ".
The anthropologist Danilo Villamor assures that " the possibility of the footprint being a representation " carved " in the rock was analyzed, nevertheless, based on the observations with regard to the morphology of the fingerprint, its proportions and anatomical accuracy, we think that it is probable that it is a question of an impression caused by a human foot".
The public exhibition of the footprint will be opened today in the Department of Foreign Relations.
