"Broken Saints" is a flash animation series released on the 'web which eventually made it to DVD (with added vocals and a few extras) - and it's awesome!
The basic elements are there - four characters from separate backgrounds find themselves drawn together to make a stand against evil at a pivotal moment in time. There's more than a little esoteric subtext as well as a heavy dose of NWO conspiracy plotlines and pointed political and social commentary about US imperialism, predatory capitalism and organized religion. In fact, some of it is so close to the Cass material that I can't help wondering if the creators were inspired by it - there are a few "reality-bending" moments that read like a "nod" towards the concepts of hyperdimensional realities and entities, although they are later explained away as something a bit more "3D".
Wherever the inspiration came from, it's a great series, and well worth checking out.
