A suspected terrorist has been arrested after a dawn raid on an executive home in a quiet village in Kent.

The man, believed to be in his 30s, was detained after police surrounded the £325,000 home in an exclusive new-build executive estate in a village near Folkestone.

The three-bedroom, semi-detached house is occupied by two couples, believed to be two brothers and their wives.

The couples have lived in the area for around two years and both brothers are listed as company directors.

A neighbour said: "To have an address on your doorstep connected with suspected terrorism is certainly very worrying"

He added: "There are only five houses on this street and it's quite an exclusive development, so to say we are shocked by what has happened is in understatement."

A team of police officers in bullet-proof vests raided the property at 8am this morning.

According to one neighbour the couples have four children, two boys and two girls, aged between nine and 18.

The neighbour said: "It was at 8am the police arrived. There were about 12 of them.

"One of the women who lives there was just about to take the children to school and all hell broke loose."

Witnesses to the arrest said the suspect was taking a girl to school at the time in a black BMW four wheel drive.

One motorist said: "People from a number of blacked out people-carriers cuffed him and pushed him up against a fence and they were only slowly letting traffic go past.

"It didn't look like a standard stop.

"There was a school-age girl in uniform sitting in the front passenger seat of the guy's car."

Another neighbour added: "As I did the school run there were loads of police around.

"I am not sure what it's all for but there were an awful lot of them and it all started just before 8am.

"This is a quiet neighbourhood and things like this don't happen around here."

Kent Police said a man was arrested under the Terrorism Act 2000 and was being held on suspicion of being engaged in the commission, preparation or instigation of an act of terrorism.

A spokesman said: "The man is currently being questioned at a police station in Kent. Enquiries are ongoing."

Very interesting. One wonders, of course, just what the guy actually did and will the police end up being embarrassed and having to apologize?

Took me a while to scour the news but I managed to find the names of the 'terrorist suspects'

The suspect, believed to be in his 30s was arrested after police surrounded the £325,000 home in an exclusive new-build executive estate.

The detached house is occupied by two couples - believed to be two brothers and their wives, who have been named locally as Mehmet and Kiymet Ozbek and Fotma and Kijmer Ozbek.

The names sound Turkish to me.
