Buying supplements on Argentina/South America

I have a hard time finding supplements here in Argentina, so I thought maybe we could help each other and list our findings? Please note that due to custom restrictions and the government new policy about foreign currency we find it most difficult to import stuff, even for ourselves.

Fish oil: can be found in any pharmacy, BUT couldn't find a lot of info about their mercury.

Magnesium: Total Magnesiano is out because it has too many added stuff (such as lactose!). Any idea where to find the proper magnesium supplement?

Vitamin C: The most popular brand of Vit-C is Redoxon. That would be out because of the artificial sweeteners. I asked at a pharmacy if it was possible to buy it pure, but the pharmacist told me that I can only buy a large amount because it can't be fractioned without contamination. Figured out that if a pharmacist can't touch Vit C without corrupting it, I would completely spoil the whole batch solely by using it. Either that or she was trying to trick me into spending a lot of money since it was quite pricey.

What did you guys could find?

Hello skycsil,
I don't know the Argentinian market, but in Chile it is possible to find some supplements (quite expensive though). In pharmacies there is vitamin C from "Nature's Bounty" and it is possible to find (rare, you have to purchase in advance and wait several months) crystal vitamin C from "now". There is also magnesium (citrate), vitamin D3 and a few others. There are lots of Argentinians finishing their summer vacations in Chile. If you know some of them you might ask them to buy you at least the vitamin C: this one: _http://www.naturesbounty.com/product/001707

That's really good to know! Maybe it would be easier to import stuff from chile. Will have a look at the website. Thanks a lot :)

These products are imported from the USA, so maybe you can try buying a few either from the company of through amazon if possible? It may take some time but if you know someone who travels to Chile soon you can ask for a few products.

As far as I understand, iherb.com ships to Argentina. It might be slowish to arrive (2 or 3 weeks), but my experience with them has been good. Good prices and shipping prices cost 4 dollars flat. Depending on Argentina's policies, they might tax you or not at customs. Perhaps you might want to experiment with something cheap to see if it arrives and when?

Thanks Psyche, but actually our problem is that imported goods are not being released from the custom office =(
