:cry: OMG how brutal it is...

The videotape showed an escalating situation that abruptly became hostile when officer Manuel Ramos snapped on latex gloves and said, “Now, you see my fists? ... They’re getting ready to f--- you up … If you don’t start f------ listening.”

Within moments, Ramos and another officer take Thomas to the ground with help from a baton, according to the video, and pounce on him as he begins screaming “I’m sorry dude … I’m sorry. … I can’t breathe dude … I can’t breathe, sir! Please, help!”

It is really hard to watch it...

Arizona police officer executes man for telling him a warrant is needed -

Phoenix Police Officer responds to a domestic, enters a home with the mother’s permission, son inside tells officer he needs a warrant. The officer responds by putting a gun to the victim’s head, saying “I don’t need no warrant, motherfucker.” Seconds later, the victims dog was shot and killed, then the victim himself.

Update: although this took place last year (timeline of events), it is still a compelling story. It appears as if no criminal charges were ever filed, although the mother of the murdered victim is pressing ahead with a civil suit, and the officer was eventually fired.

Oh wow that was just terrible to watch, the poor man...what ever happened to that police man, he was just fired, that's it? and what about the others, seemed that they were 5 of them on him, and jesus, like that wasn't enough they tasered him too....... a poor dude that wasn't even armed. Just thinking about it is making me sick to my stomach. My heart goes out to his family.

Hi all;

One thing to notice about this video is that the police do not simply ferret out his wallet to get his id, rather they ask him for his name. I can't speak for the Los Angeles area, (where there are some tent cities - er, sidewalk cities), but in San Francisco, the police will sometimes confiscate a homeless person's driver's license. This practice can leave a person unable to prove their identity, or - get a job.

And to get your driver's license replaced, you must submit proof of residence, a mailing address, aka an electric bill. But how can one rent a place to get an electric bill if one does not have a job, and how can one get a job without ability to prove identity, much less to operate a car to say - deliver pizza? The post office has very strict rules regarding renting you a box, so that option of getting a mailing address is often not. Bank accounts are also tough.

I am not an expert, I am not qualified, nor would I try to judge matters here. Both the police and the homeless walk on paths that I know little of. But I do know that such low blows to a person recently losing their job etc. and falling into homelessness, can easily become very cruel and dis-enfranchising.
