Yep, Canada's John Hagee, aka Steven Harper, and his Conservative gang of evangelical Christians, won't be outdone in warmongering by his buddy George Bush and his band of neo-con thugs. Nosirree! Steven, Peter, Stockwell, Irwin, and the characterpathic "Support Our Troops" folks (you know, the ones who say that if we don't support Canadian troops being in Iraq or Afghanistan that we should stand in front of them) are just gittin' warmed up.
Heck, if the US can sacrifice American kids in Iraq, why can't we Canadians offer up one or two thousand naive 18 and 19 yos on the sacrificial war altar as well.
Besides, it's not fair to let the 'Merican politicians have all the guts and glory of the war against Terrorism.
Just so long as you don't ask any of Steve's, Peter's, Stock's, Irwin's kids, nieces, nephews or grandkids to bloody their hands or be maimed or killed.

Some Canadians think that Canada is somehow different than America... Some Americans still think they have the power to elect a president... What ever illusion allows us to sleep at night is great... :)

I'm really growing concerned with what's happening here in my country of America. I am by far too poor to be able to leave, and so I find myself trapped, for better or worse, in this pressure cooker of political corruption and corporate greed. If I had the money I would have already left, however I don't. I expect it is going to get really bad here, and I would like to think those of us who see it coming have a chance, but this is at best wishful thinking. Any thoughts on this? Canada may be involved, but my country is at the root of all of this war for profit. I am increasingly worried, and things have only just begun. How bad will it get before 'the masses' here refuse to take it? And when they have had enough, how violent will the government's response be? The possibilities are chilling...

Keep your head up and try to network with like-minds in your community. You will always find mental stimulation and support online (sott :) ), but try to build real life support networks with your neigbours, friends, and family. You don't need to be rich to form support networks with people that can help each other in hard times.

The "system" has divided our communities and social networks in favor of every man for himself. The "Every man for himself" philosophy has created easily controlled citizens that are desperate for their Gov. to tell then what to do and how to do it... Many North Americans are just as concerned as you, but will not admit this as they will hold-out on the hope that "Uncle Sam" will take care of them.
