Cash 4 Gold

For last month or so UK TV channels have been flooded with adverts for companies who offer to give you cash for your unwanted jewelery and gold items.
Now they even started asking for silver and platinum. This sudden and aggressive campaign makes me wonder.

Is the complete breakdown of cash economy near and the vultures already started circling?

We have all been bracing ourselves for complete crash of the market for more then a year now. This hasn't happened and I have been lulled in the false security due to the fact that crisis didn't affect the place I live in in significant way, at least not until now. Could this be a sign that the final crash is very near?

Here in the U.S. it is no different, as there are commercials on the boobtube asking people to send in their gold for cash. And, in these dire times I have noticed it at least 3-4 times a day. About four months ago I have also noticed gold-for-cash stores, and most recent I have seen "normal" jewelry store window adverts stating to turn in your unwanted gold for cash.

Some do see the economic melt down coming, and what better to have on hand as it happens, but, gold -it transcends all monetary currencies.

As for the other percious metals you have mentioned, I have not seen or heard, but of course I am sure that as people try to get a better hand on their finacial situation, that it will not suprise me to see all they have in percious metal at home go to these places. FWIW

I too have been seeing this going on for months in the US. My mother watches so much tv that she is ready to run out and cash in all her old jewelry. I keep telling her that what ever they offer her, I'll give her and buy it myself just to keep it, so she has not done anything yet. I do believe we are getting close to eliminating cash but I'm sure there is still much to be done first. I don't believe gold will be the only metal of any value tho so I'm holding onto all types right now. There are thefts all over the place right now for copper tubing, stainless steel and brass as well. So gold may be worth the most but not the only metal of value IMO.

money is just paper and have no gold in the background. experts all say the same buy gold or silver if the banks crash down you have nothing. the price of gold is going higher and higher and higher now in the moment gold has his highest price since a long time.

For almost 20 years we have jeweleries which buys unwanted or damaged gold but since we are in constant financial crysis for 20 years and more and war time to time it is I guess following phenomenon. There were situations that we did replaced gold for flour, since there was nothing to buy for cash.
I guess that in times of crysis people are selling old gold to to pays leasing rate or feed the children.
But maybe the real sign is when the wealthy people start to buy "wanted" gold, like coins or levers.

Here in Canada is the same. On both Canadian and US channels we get those advertisements. Actually one of them made me go  cause it was saying. "just send your gold to us in the mail, and we'll send you cash for your gold." I was like, ok who would do that? Not only could your gold be stolen in mail, but how would you even be sure anyone would send you money? What if they pretend they never received it? It just baffled me to think anyone would actually DO that.

in every city in germany opened and opens shop in the last month that buy every form of golld, old rings and chains, coins or tooth gold you can see them everywhere even in small villages shopping streets its crazy isnt it?

the price of gold has been pretty steady over the last year, has even gone down some. I imagine we will see it start to rise soon.
