Cat's teeth-how to keep them clean?

Hi all

A while a go I wrote about something that happened to my cat which caused me to take her to the vet.

While the vet was checking her, he mentioned several times about the importance of the cat's teeth and oral cleaning etc..

It was actually kind of annoying cause he kept going on and on about it- but we were there for her tail thing and we had to remind him several times to get back to the tail- anyway, getting off track here..

I mentioned before that I feed my cat lots of wet-food because I used to feed her dry food and she became very fat and after doing some research I found out wet-food was better for cats. Especially organic wet food that doesn't have wheat and stuff in it. So I feed her organic wet-food. The doctor was adamant about the fact that I need to start feeding her dental care dry food. Which bothered me because the dental care dry food has wheat and stuff in it- and it's not organic. So I talked with a cat-food store owner once and he mentioned that as long as the cat eats some sort of dry food it would help take off the plaque or whatever from her teeth caused by eating wet-food. So I bought some organic dry food and give her a little once in a while. But I'm not sure how often I should be giving her the dry food.

My cat is an indoor cat, so she doesn't get a lot of activity, giving her lots of dry food results in her gaining weight which isn't good for her.

So I thought I'd ask here about how you guys keep your cat's teeth clean?

Thanks

Just wondering though, which product do you recommended the spray or Gel?

Thanks!

The gel is preferable to me.

I have 3 Siamese cross & they scarf their food & have narrow jaws - prone to dental probs.
You can descale their teeth if you are patient & so is the cat. Decent fingernail at the gum line & quick flick down. Not going to happen with mine coz they won't sit for it..
You can get big size food/dental biscuits from the vet. Larger size forces them to chew & removes plaque (rather than swallow the food whole).
Alternative is dry roasted chicken necks. Again it forces them to chew and has nice bone to clean teeth with nothing sharp to get stuck in the tummy.
My best hunter has great teeth. He chews the bones in his catches, which he eats completely apart from some trophy parts for mum. Yay...
