CellFood a Lie or Usefull?

chaps23

Jedi Master
Hey guys, so I need a little help looking into this new product I've found CellFood, a friend of mine swears by this so trying to keep an open mind I said I'd look into it, I did a search on this forum for the full name CellFood, but came up with nothing, I no it has been around for a while so there might be mention of it somewhere here I cant see.

Anyway I thought by posting it here we could either debunk it or maybe it will prove usefull, honestly speaking. I think its a bunch of max produced multivitamen like swiss and contains large quantities of some heavy metals and a whole lot of nonsence in terms of some of the supposed "reasons why Cellfood is amazing"

Such as I found this advertising page here
_http://www.toolsforwellness.com/75001.html_

Which basically stipulates some out ragous claims
It's estimated that the earth's atmosphere used to contain 38-50% oxygen; that it is now down to about 20%; and that in some urban environments, it's as low as 10%!

What a CROCK.

It provides an unsurpassed oxygen and nutrient delivery system, and is absorbed quickly and efficiently by every cell in the body.

Below is a link to there apparent research that I cant for the life of me understand, nor do I even know where to look to gain knowledge to understand this.

_http://www.cellfood.com.au/page/research_

As far as indipendant research on this goes I found several websites relating to the matter but as far as positive comments go it could simply be advertising.

This forum has a couple of people take a crack at it. who actually link to the above website

_http://forums.randi.org/showthread.php?t=60266_

Because I cant understand this enough as yet any help or input would be great. I have an open mind here but only due to the fact that I am not clever enough to make an educated decision.

Hi chaps
First question would be I think, what is your aim here? Are you just trying to confirm weather your friend is correct or not (will you be telling him if he is incorrect?), or are you interested in taking the product yourself? I ask because if its about taking the product yourself, I'd like to ask what you are hoping to achieve (health wise)?

Well I haven't got a clue if that is correct or not....however a quick google brings up this article

With the following graph
oxygen_levels.jpg

So it seems that this claim about oxygen levels in the atmosphere may be invalid.

So it looks like it contains himalayan/sea salt for a start....which is pretty good stuff for you.

A brief look at these suggests two things....the papers show test results (killing/inhibiting of pathogens, surface tension of water) or appear to be more grand statements with no data to back them up (don't quote me on that, as I only scanned them Very quickly).
The killing/inhibiting of pathogens and change in surface tension could be explained easily by adding (sea) salt to water

So far its stuff about 'oxygenating the body' (its main point of the product?) seems baseless.....

If you really do want to oxygenate the body, do the EE program! If you want the minerals, use sea/himalayan salt on your food (or a pinch in water) as suggested as part of the paleo diet.

There really doesn't seem to be much to this....but (and this is important!) I encourage you to dig for yourself and do not take my word for it (nor your friends, nor the websites). If you can ask the question, you are intelligent enough to find the answer :)
If those papers make no sense to you, perhaps there is a reason for that? i.e. they are perhaps obfuscating?

Thankyou so much RedFox,

My aim is purely to link my friend to this page and others with a logical view of the product rather than believing all the "Hype" So that he may look more closely into things rather than following the masses.

I believe this will assist him greatly in the way of beggining to look deeper into things before jumping on the first ship that sails past.

You have provided me a much better understanding of this, The Himilayen salt doesn't quite sell me either the Lead, Flouride and Aluminium amoung other things dont have me all rev'd up as much as I once was. I think a heavy metal detox once every 6 months might healp a little if your on that stuff.

Best Regards,

Brent.

I thought this may be the case, so I'd like to remind you of External/Internal Considering

The key concept is to be aware of and to adapt oneself to the level of being and knowledge of others. Thus, external considering involves for example not talking about things which would simply offend others' beliefs or simply not be understood. External considering relates to an idea of general good will towards the environment, then in the sense of letting the environment be as it wishes and responding to its requests in a manner that honors its right to be as it will.

True, but the trick is to look at the measurement ( <0.001 ppm ), ppm is Part Per Million.

_http://groups.molbiosci.northwestern.edu/holmgren/Glossary/Definitions/Def-P/parts_per_million.html
Definition:

This is a way of expressing very dilute concentrations of substances. Just as per cent means out of a hundred, so parts per million or ppm means out of a million. Usually describes the concentration of something in water or soil. One ppm is equivalent to 1 milligram of something per liter of water (mg/l) or 1 milligram of something per kilogram soil (mg/kg).
So in this case (if my maths is correct) <0.001 ppm would be the equivalent of a measurement (less than) 1 milligram (0.001 grams) per 1000 kg (1.1 tons) of salt. Or (less than) 1 gram per 1000000 kg (1102 tons) of salt. These things occur at these trace levels in nature (hence being in the salt), so its likely the human body evolved to work with these trace amounts, especially in sea salt/sea food - see the Aquatic Ape (that is, when the body is in an optimal state it can detox them all naturally - the paleo diet seems to be the way to go for this).

I'm pretty sure you breathe in waymore than those trace amounts (especially lead from the fumes and cadmium from the tyres) in every time a car drives past you. Sea salt/food we evolved with, so ours bodies have evolved along side these trance minerals. When they are no longer trace (say in traffic or pollution in general) is when there is a problem....we didn't evolve for millions of years next to car fumes.

Hopefully the conext will give some clarity.

Thankyou Redfox,

I take your words very seriously, its almost like I dont even know I'm doing it sometimes. Bizzarre, I will endevor to work on this portion of myself in the future. Your insight of this "Cellfood" has also proven very usefull, and I believw I'm correct in thinking that the Oxygenation claim this substance has is bull, but at the same time this multivitamen could more than likely proove usefull to some as a healthy benificial alternative to something like that "swiss" stuff.

Again I find myself repeating the same lessons, but I'll get there when I'm ready I'm sure of it.

Best Regards,

Brent.

"The therapeutic effects of Cellfood are:

* Cellfood provides a steady flow of both oxygen and hydrogen-- by splitting water molecules-- to all parts of the body, thereby producing simultaneous oxidation and reduction.

* It enables the blood stream to deliver a minimum of 78 assimilable trace minerals and elements directly to each cell for complete and direct nutrition.

* It aids in the digestive process. It contains enzymes and also is catalytic to the activation of the digestive enzymes.

* It assists in the cleansing of upper and lower intestines, and in restoring normal bowel functions. This effect will be noticed within 24 hours by those who need it.

Here are some clinical observations regarding Cellfood applications:

* Cellfood cleans the colon while eliminating growth of undesirable microorganisms.

* Cellfood will protect from nuclear fallout by providing minerals that vibrate near the frequencies of isotopes. If there is no mineral deficiency, then the body will not accept the fallout.

* Cellfood will purify standard tap water.

* Cellfood causes clotted blood to unclot.

* Cellfood will help patients relax if wired and to get going if tired. It increases brain function significantly.

* Cellfood can reversed severe dehydration, as in the case I had of a woman who lost all of her amniotic fluid and had it return overnight by drinking copious amounts of Cellfood.

* Cellfood will often stop a cold or flu if applied at the first signs.

* Cellfood will help to rehydrate air passengers and is useful in regulating jet lag.

Do they provide references to support the "therapeutic effects" and "clinical observations"? All too often, products being sold online or in other unregulated environments carry unsubstantiated claims and bold lies. Any product that has breakthrough properties souls proudly mention the research sporting their claims, to bolster their credibility.

FWIW,
Gonzo

Hi Leonore41 - it is customary here for new members to post an introduction in the Newbies section telling us a bit about yourself and how you found the forum, your interests, etc. No need for personal information. :)

In addition, please provide links to data you post as this Forum focuses on providing solid research to the members.

I fell for the Cellfood once long ago. VERY convincing marketing and 'internal studies.'

These days I would note it has a lot of similarity to the Jim Humble MMS story - both claim super-oxygenation and secret ingredients, both claim to heal AIDS and cancer, both have been proven in 'studies in Africa', and government suppression, and both have absolutely NO independent evidence or proof whatsoever of any claims...despite being around for 10-15 years.

Anyhow, you can also type Cellfood Scam into Google, plenty of discussion. I haven't researched it in more than 5 years, but at the time I couldn't find a shred of research that didn't come directly from the company itself. There are a lot of 'snake oil' hallmarks here. But, if someone does come across any legit info, please do share! :)

Good spot on the salt similarity, RedFox!

Very true, I noticed Fluoride & Lead being removed from the list. I wonder if it really has or just been hidden for marketing purposes.

When you look at the list of trace minerals (they don't list amounts or forms, and several of these aren't even minerals), it appears that someone just copied the Periodic Table and subtracted some of the better-known toxic elements, plus the ones that can only be created in nuclear reactors (they do include technetium -- I wonder where they source that from?).

They include several elements that are never even found in the human body, such as the noble gases (helium, neon, argon, krypton, and xenon), others that have no biological role (berylium, titanium, gallium, etc), and even some radioactive elements (thorium, actinium, promethium, polonium and astatine). I think many of these would work synergistically to create impressively expensive urine, since they can't be absorbed by the body and would only be excreted.

I expect one would probably find similar oddities in some of the other categories, as well as in their FAQs and intro material, if they really dissected their info page.
