Chills, cramps and muscle spasms

Hi Palinurus,

I saw this on Amazon but instead opted for the bath thermometer but in hindsight I will need this for the shower aswell. I have practiced cold showers a number of years ago but not for the length of time suggested in the forum and I definatelty felt the benefits which is why I'm going to do it again.

Once I try the bath out and I'm confident I can sustain the cold water routine this will be my next purchase.

Thanks for the links.

Hello:

I used to have those cramps all the time, and it was very hard for me to take a cold shower, but little by little I became used to it, now when I turn the shower if it is somewhat hot I feel uncomfortable, then I turn the cold and my body feels great, also I'm taking L-Carnitine 250mg to help relax the muscles.

L-carnitine is an amino acid (a building block for proteins) that is naturally produced in the body.

L-carnitine supplements are used to increase L-carnitine levels in people whose natural level of L-carnitine is too low because they have a genetic disorder, are taking certain drugs (valproic acid for seizures), or because they are undergoing a medical procedure (hemodialysis for kidney disease) that uses up the body’s L-carnitine. It is also used as a replacement supplement in strict vegetarians, dieters, and low-weight or premature infants.

L-carnitine is used for conditions of the heart and blood vessels including heart-related chest pain, congestive heart failure (CHF), heart complications of a disease called diphtheria, heart attack, leg pain caused by circulation problems (intermittent claudication), and high cholesterol.

Some people use L-carnitine for muscle disorders associated with certain AIDS medications, difficulty fathering a child (male infertility), a brain development disorder called Rett syndrome, anorexia, chronic fatigue syndrome, diabetes, overactive thyroid, attention deficit-hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), leg ulcers, Lyme disease, and to improve athletic performance and endurance.

The body can convert L-carnitine to other amino acids called acetyl-L-carnitine and propionyl-L-carnitine. But, no one knows whether the benefits of carnitines are interchangeable. Until more is known, don’t substitute one form of carnitine for another.

How does it work?

L-carnitine helps the body produce energy. It is important for heart and brain function, muscle movement, and many other body processes.

I hope this helps.

I started my cold shower routine last week though dropping the temperature slightly as at the moment I cannot measure the temp as haven't purchased the thermometer device for the shower. I received my bath thermometer on Saturday morning. I enjoy physical training cardio vascular and weight training and at times often feel drained and cannot exercise the following day. My back and legs were very sore on Sunday morning I was struggling and very lethargic.
I attempted the cold bath for the first time Sunday morning and I ran the bath the temperature been 12 degrees. I found the cold intense and bearing in mind the advice I have read in the forum of not over exposing yourself to the cold to avoid hypothermia I stuck it out for as long as possible. I sat in the water for approx 3 minutes and laid out covered completely for maybe 1 or 2 minutes. Compared to the cold showers the cold bath was an intense experience. I had an extremely busy day (physically demanding) on Sunday and all the aches and pains I had had dissipated I presume due to the bath. I am aware that in sports physios do use cold treatments to help the muscles recover and I believe this happened in my case. It is encouraging to have a positive result.
Yesterday I had the longest cold shower I have ever had just under ten minutes. Later in the day felt a bit groggy and had signs of cold symptoms (sneezing, runny nose). I have read that having cold showers can trigger a response from the immune system so probably experiencing this now as felt fine this morning.
I am now reading ISOTM and it has led me muse on a question that G was asked at one of the meetings about reincarnation. He explains that a crystallization must occur in man if there is to be any future. A certain fusion of mans inner qualities. An independence from external influences. If there is anything in a man that exists that can resist external influences then this very thing may be able to survive the death of the physical body. He goes on to say that fusion, inner unity is created by friction mans internal struggle of yes and no. He also goes on to say that crystallization can occur on the right and wrong foundation.
My thoughts on this are you have the spinning, cold showers/baths, this network, diet, meditation we are starting to work consciously on crystallizing something internally built on the right foundations though I realize all are on different levels and this is an ongoing process. It leads me to feel like some of the masters/guru's mention that meditation takes place in each moment and following the said processes leads us to been more conscious across all areas of our lives a self awareness for want of a better word.
I hope what I have said makes sense though maybe should of wrote the latter part in a separate post and this is not deemed as noise.
