Colostrum/Lactoferran reaction :(

Gimpy

The Living Force
Hello folks. :flowers:

I've put this in its own thread for other people who might be immune compromised. (I have Multiple Sclerosis.) Also to encourage folks to share if they've had funny reactions to supplements so that no one keeps using one that might not be working out.

I'd ordered HCI and a bottle of Colostrum/Lactoferran, then received a gift of the same supplements in the mail. (A Big Thank you to whomever sent it!)

The HCI worked well, and I still take one to two caps of it for meals. But when I added the Colostrum/Lactoferran, after the third day I had problems.

At night, I started to have nerve pain that started at the knee caps of both legs. It progressed to the point that it felt like nerve jabs all over my body, right down to fingers, toes, and my face. It felt like neuropathy pain I've had before, and I'd say on a scale of 1 to 10 it was a 6. That's plenty to wake me from sound sleep and yelp. With it were muscle cramps that made me shiver as if I'd been burned with hot liquid. No fun. Last night was not as bad as Friday night, but bad enough that I did not sleep. I spent most of today resting, but I still don't know if this is going to mean a flare up of MS, though when I do get one, this is how it presents. I'm still having nerve pain off and on, but not the body wide nasty stuff, so far. I don't know if this means I need a course of prednisone, and I sure hope not, as the doses the Dr gives for MS are quite high, and make me crazy.

I stopped everything after the first night of pain except for the digestives (L-Glutamine, Boswellia, ox-bile, HCI), and the adrenal fatigue supplements that have been proven not to cause problems. That is my default when any supplement causes a problem, stop, reduce, wait, and see if the reaction is still there. This one hurts bad enough I don't think I'll start it again though.

This evening I'm still having some pain, but nothing like Friday night. I've been weak, but not had the bone crushing MS fatigue that goes with a flare up, so my fingers are crossed. :halo:

So...if you are immune compromised and try a supplement that says it does boost your immune system, go slowly, if at all. ;D I think I'll stick with L-glutamine and boswellia for now.

And I'm open for any suggestions.

Other than this last reaction, I've been feeling pretty good! Going off caffeine was tough, but now that I'm off of it, I do feel better. So, down again, up again....
