Consumed: living in the belly of the beast

Consumed looks into how our natural urges are used to control from a psychological perspective. The film brings up topics like social rank, prestige and being as opposed to having i.e how we fell into the trap of buying props to compensate for defects in ourselves. One refreshing view was how they approached the issue of consumption by framing it as a normal function of the human animal that has been twisted, taking us from developing ourselves into developing props. Also narcissism was briefly mentioned and how we went from hunter-gathers to agricultural to industrial to digital while our world slowly becomes contracted and smaller around ourselves following each epoch. In the end, this documentary is interesting because of its attempt to look at humanity for what it is (from the biological standpoint at least).
