Convicted paedophile on the run

A convicted paedophile facing 20 years in jail for offences committed in Rochdale is on the run after he went missing during his trial in Bolton, police have said.
John Tregalles, 61, was on trial at Bolton Crown Court for a string of sex attacks on young boys and girls.
He went missing while on bail when he was allowed to return to his home in Teignmouth, Devon, by Judge William Morris after the trial adjou

rned for the weekend, but did not return to court on Monday September 15 after the break.
His trial continued and he was convicted in his absence and given a 20-year jail sentence.
Police have been searching for him since without finding him and on Friday issued his mugshot in an appeal for public help.
Tregalles was found guilty of three counts of raping a child under 16 and one count of sexual assault of a boy under 13.
He has also been found guilty of a three counts of indecent assault against boys aged under 13, two counts of gross indecency with a girl under 13 and two counts of aiding and abetting indecent assault on a girl under 13 along with four physical assaults on a boy under 13 and one physical assault on a girl under 13.
The charges relate to offences committed between 1986 and 1991, when he lived in the Rochdale area. It is believed he may have been spending time in Rochdale and Manchester.
Superintendent Martin Greehalgh, of Rochdale police, said: "This man needs to be caught and held accountable for his crimes.
"We are doing all we can to find him but I would urge members of the public who have any information on his whereabouts to get in contact. I would urge anyone who sees Tregalles not to approach him, but to contact police immediately."
