Crazy donut-shaped jet stream over Mid-West

Here in the upper midwest, we've had a swirling low pressure hanging around since last Wednesday and it's forecasted to hang around til midweek. Thought I'd check out the jet stream on wunderground weather and found this:

notice the directional arrows and what appears to be a retro circulation...seems kinda of crazy.

Or crazy making? I know the aches and pains are weirdly back, despite diet. Might be why?

In NW Ohio, the clouds are thick, dark gray, quite low (about two trees high), moving very very very fast, in a southeast to northwest direction. The direction seems odd. Strange thing is I hear no critters. Birds, crickets, nothing. No birds in the air from what I saw.

Clouds are rather strange these days in NE , particularly sunset time. Thick black at the bottom, birght shiny on the top( sun light), some times very low . Reminds me of twilight zone. Of course No body talk. so as if nothing is happening , move one.

The sky does look very ominous here in the Midwest. And it does not seem to be a topic of discussion among people. I'm not even sure they look up! Some of the clouds are downright creepy.

And the donut-shaped jet stream persists today as well. How do these currents sustain their speed when they are cut off from the main jet stream?
Some of the clouds are creepy, but the damp, cool weather is downright crappy.

Talk about ominous, this satellite picture looks like a hurricane system! (however, aside from being windy and wet there hasn't been threatening weather around here with this system.)

This is also a good image to bookmark: @http://www.weatherbank.com/free/grafx/jsnh.gif . It shows the jetstream forecast in good detail. Also this: @http://weather.unisys.com/surface/sfc_front.gif , showing just the pressure systems and their associated fronts.

Thanks Skyalmian, its much more informative to see the jet stream in motion on the weatherbank site.

Also noticed that the image in the introductory post and the satellite image has changed; hmm... wasn't expecting that to happen, but I guess since that image is sort of a "bookmarked location" of an image that changes with time, it won't stay the same on the post either (?)
