Craig Venter, the man known for his role in sequencing the human genome has transplanted again a genome from one living bacterial into another bacterial receiving bacterial cell.
The innovation in this work is that the genome is synthesized in vidro and the genome once transplanted into the receiving bacteria, seems to replace the original genome of the receiving bacteria.
