(I wasn't sure exactly where to put this; Things have accelerated so much these days that I almost feel like there needs to be a new subcategory which deals specifically with culture war items. This piece isn't exactly Orwellian.., it isn't top-down but rather more grass roots, like a bunch of sleeper agents waking up.)

But anyway...

I've been thinking lately that it might be time to re-read a bunch of old books because I can't remember where many of my favorite quotes came from, or if I'm remembering them correctly, but the essence of some very powerful words have struck me over the years and have provided a lot of valuable guidance.

I think it might have been Florinda Donner, (The Witch's Dream) quoting one of her teachers. Or it may have been Don Juan.

I've found this to be true, and it has proven a useful bit of awareness. I listen carefully and don't brush off early indicators when I meet new people. It's not hard because it isn't even subtle most of the time.

Or in the case of Gail Simone, (one of the more influential figures in the world of comic book pop culture and social media), the alien hoard sometimes simply forgets to lie about its intentions.

Richard C. Meyer (Zack) reviews and follows this stuff in the world of comic book culture, and he speaks well on the subject:
