Dangerous Fruit

by Maud Newton - nytimes mag Jan 8 2012

Bertrand Russell's charming autobio recalls Victorian "horror and alarm" over the idea of children eating fruit. At one dispiriting lunch, the adults enjoyed oranges while he looked on over an empty plate. With new studies showing high levels of arsenic and lead in some juices, pesticides on organic Canadian apples and misleading labeled "USDA organic" strawberries, parental fruit phobias could start to seem less comically outmoded.

It's funny and how true for different reasons. Carbs, fiber plus sugar makes fruits dangerous to kids and adults. One medium orange 21 grams carbs and remember it contains fructose. Lol the prudish Victorians had something right.

Thanks to SOTT, health diet board and books, I keep learning and now know better :flowers:
