dark pressence in a dream

Many years ago, when I was a teenager I had a dream that I still remember as if it happened last night(it was back in the 60's).
It started when I somehow woke up but not a normal wake up, instead I was in my bedroom but it was uniformly lit by a white light that did not appear to have a source like a lamp, it seemed to come from everywhere. I looked around and then I noticed that I was still in bed, apparently asleep and yet I was looking at my body from outside my body!
Suddenly I felt a sense of something dark and heavy coming towards me, it felt dark and big. I extended one hand, I think the left and a very bright light came out of it, like a camera flash going off, the darkness dissapeared and I woke up, in my physical body this time.
I just thought that I had started to do one of those " astral travel " things but did not have and still don't have a clue as to what that dark thing could have been.
Imagination? maybe

When you say that something was coming towards you, do you mean your physical body or the astral projection? Also, what was your feeling towards this dark, heavy force? Anger, fear, etc?

It was not my physical body, the " me" was the one outside the body. My feelings towards the dark thing, I was not afraid or angry. The feeling I had was that of an approaching danger and my reaction was automatic, I did not think about it, just extended my hand and the light came out.
Even after waking up I was not afraid. I got up and walked around the room but did not feel fear. I was mostly curious as to what that thing was.
