DEA admits spraying Paraquat on Marijuana in 1980's

The Living Force
This article brought several questions to mind, considering the on-going exposure of Government agencies being complicit in using chemicals and drugs against the unsuscepting general public.

The whole article is here:

Points I want to point out:
Yesterday I published an article on the history of prohibition, discussing how the US Government added poison to industrial alcohol to discourage consumption. People continued to drink it, so the government added more and they killed 10,000 people.

Many of our readers sent in emails and made comments informing us that a similar case occurred in the past few decades, where the government poisoned marijuana crops with a chemical named “Paraquat”. This was admitted by the DEA as reported by the New York Times:

The director of the Drug Enforcement Administration said today that the Government would use the herbicide paraquat and two others in a stepped-up campaign to eradicate domestically grown marijuana. The use of paraquat, banned from national forests in 1983 because of environmental concerns, was announced by the director, John C. Lawn, at a news conference.

A drug agency spokesman, Cornelius Dougherty, subsequently said that, in light of a 1983 ruling by Federal Judge June Green, paraquat would be sprayed for marijuana eradication on private land, not on public property. The other two herbicides cited by Mr. Lawn, 2,4D and glyphosate, are not involved in the ruling and could be used on public lands, a spokesman said.

Jay Feldman, coordinator of the National Coalition Against the Misuse of Pesticides, said: ”The other two chemicals don’t have the same restrictions, but while that may be complying with the letter of the law, it is violating the principles that protect national lands to ensure the protection of wildlife habitats and recreation areas.”

Paraquat, which is used in agriculture to clear fields before planting and after harvest, is an acid that can produce severe lung damage in humans if ingested. However, The government statement completed in July 1985 and found that ”there is a slight risk that heavy smokers of marijuana could be affected by paraquat-sprayed marijuana.” Totally downplaying the dangers that this chemical could have to humans.

1. "US Government added poison to industrial alcohol to discourage consumption. People continued to drink it, so the government added more and they killed 10,000 people."

I realize, their actions are "to have complete control and form their own private monopoly" but to inflict extreme suffering and even death is beyond human comprehension. Even one death is too many! Plus, during their "imposed history of prohibition" they slapped a heavy tax on alcohol to add insult to injury.
How many were made accountable for their actions?

2. "the government poisoned marijuana crops with a chemical named “Paraquat”. This was admitted by the DEA "

How many were made accountable for their actions?

Yet... "in light of a 1983 ruling by Federal Judge June Green, paraquat would be sprayed for marijuana eradication on private land, not on public property."

But I guess, since a Federal Judge ruled it OK - to spray it on private property, their actions are "Legal?"
Am I to assume, this legality also gave a green light to trespass on Private Property, destroy and leave barren a portion of that Domain?

3. "Paraquat, which is used in agriculture to clear fields before planting and after harvest, is an acid that can produce severe lung damage in humans if ingested."

It maybe used in agriculture but a private Farmer wouldn't risk posioning his other crops including those for use by his Family. Nor, would he want to change the diversity of soil nurients or wildlife in the eco-system within his boundries. So, the article fails to point out, it's a protocol of Argri-business? Same arguement, as in Monsanto's GMO's and herbicides. The Paraquat chemical seems to mimic the properties of Agent Orange in defolage?

4. "The government statement completed in July 1985 and found that ”there is a slight risk that heavy smokers of marijuana could be affected by paraquat-sprayed marijuana.” Totally downplaying the dangers that this chemical could have to humans."

Slight risk - as in Lung Cancer, since "Paraquat produces sever lung damage in humans if ingested?"
And what about regular smoking tobacco? How much Paraquat has been added along with the 200 other additives? Like Prohibition, tobacco has been taxed - upon tax and beyond and the Government pushes, smoking tobacco causes Lung Cancer. Cause and effect?

I recently read about the spraying of paraquat on marijuana while researching Parkinson's Disease! I also read that the guberment heavily sprayed marijuana in South America with this neurotoxin. (and probably continues to do so?)

While there may be a connection to paraquat and lung disease, it also damages the central nervous system! Which is even more problematic.

In regards to smoking tobacco, this article just hit the News, of counterfit Fake Marlboro cigarette cartons coming into the United State from China. China's business practices, in general, are questionable in the extreme. From government recalls on children's toy's due to lead based paints, to extracting the benefical Pollen signature in honey (pollen is used to detect area of production) so it can be imported into the U.S. in clear Teddy-bear bottles and the list goes on. Now, add counterfit cigarettes.

Men Indicted for 2.3 Million Packs of Fake Marlboro's

Three men were indicted this week for shipping millions of packs of untaxed contraband Marlboro cigarettes that were part of a sting conducted by the FBI.

Jia Yongming, Yazhou Wu, and Ricky Le were indicted by the U.S. Attorney’s Office on Monday in a U.S. District Court in New Jersey. They are charged with conspiracy to transport contraband cigarettes and trafficking in goods bearing counterfeit marks.

Last July, the U.S. Attorney’s Office arrested the three California residents in Los Angeles and charged them with conspiring to ship and distribute more than 4,600 cases of Marlboro and Marlboro Light cigarettes.

Like many other states, California requires a stamp to be placed on packs of cigarettes to show the state tax has been paid. California had a $0.87 tax on each pack of cigarettes while the illegal operation had been underway for over a year.

The cigarettes were shipped from China to ports in Newark, N.J., and New York City. From warehouses, they were headed for their final destination, California, where they were delivered by undercover FBI agents, as reported by the Philadelphia Inquirer. The agents were paid about $225,000 in commissions for delivering five loads of cigarettes.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office said the state of California lost more than $2 million in taxes from this conspiracy.

David Sutton, a spokesman for Altria, which owns the Marlboro brand, said this had the “classic elements” of a counterfeiting cigarette case.

“In this case, it shows you that this kind of activity is invariably driven by higher and higher excise taxes,” Sutton said.

This case began two months after the last Federal excise tax increase on cigarettes — to 62 cents per pack — in April 2009.

In the president’s budget this week, there is a proposal to raise the Federal tax again by 94 cents to $1.95 a pack. If passed, Sutton said it “will definitely create a significant incentive for additional counterfeit cigarette smuggling.”

“The counterfeit product almost always comes from China,” Sutton said. “You see it in L.A., south Florida, the port of Newark – because of the New York City market. The criminals are sophisticated in counterfeit cigarette trafficking.”

It's very telling how most of these poisons aim at the nervous system and lungs. It's really a concerted effort to crush consciousness or that's what it seems. And I wonder is paraquat still being used?

I was at the Merida (Mexico) airport in the early 80's and saw several US helicopters with agriculture spraying devices on them staged there.
A month or two later I was back in Corazol Town, Belize,m and asked a few pot growers if they had experienced anything unusual with their crops. ALL said that their weed had turned brown and died.
How much of this ever got back to the US and was ultimately smoked by unknowing consumers is anyones guess.

Hello and welcome to the Forum bigfishxxl! It's customary for new members to introduce themselves on the Newbie board. It doesn't have to be a lot of information, just a bit about yourself and how you found the forum. You can look at some of the other posts to see how it's been done. :)

I remember a comment at the time, somewhat to the effect of: "If they're dumb enough to smoke it after it was sprayed, they deserve to get sick."
