December 21, 2010: A vedic perspective on an eclipse on winter solstice

A close friend shared the below with me and I wanted to share this with all of you.

"Interesting video about the lunar eclipse next week on the Winter Solstice based on vedic astrology. Very powerful times. I'm sure most of us can feel it. As he said, things will be uprooted, restoring truth and righteousness. It's not gonna be an easy ride. Much work to do within and without. Precious times...

Apparently one of the rare transits happening during this time has also occurred during three of the biggest tragedies in recent history: 9/11, Hurricane Katrina and the Tsunami in Asia."

eternusphoenix, thank you for sharing the vedic video on the upcoming winter solstice eclipse. I like Sam Geppi, and his interpretation was insightful!

Mod's note : Edited to add the missing bracket

The video makes the point that in terms of astronomical and astrological events (including the very rare occurrence of an eclipse happening on the day of the Solstice and in exact alignment with the Galactic Center), the Winter Solstice of 2010 is of much greater significance than the Winter Solstice (December 21st) of 2012. He sees it as marking the true end and beginning of an important cycle.

The exact time of the eclipse on December 21st is 3:15 a.m. Eastern Standard Time (for those in the U.S.). I don't think he mentioned the exact location on Earth where the eclipse would be visible. If anyone knows, maybe they could share that information.

The Total Lunar Eclipse on December 21st, 2010 will be visible in its entirety for all of North America, and will be in progress at Moonrise for Australians, New Zealand and east-Asia. It will be visible at Moonset for most of Europe and Africa, and will not be visible at all for South and East Africa, the Middle East or South Asia.

For Australians and New Zealanders, the eclipse will be in progress during Moon rise (after sunset on the 21st December). Generally, the further East you are, the more of the eclipse you'll see. The further west you are in Australia, more of the eclipse will be finished by the time the moon rises for you.

The below map shows visually where the eclipse can be seen from around the world (large version here). Read on below for what it means to you, more information, local timings, and hints and tips for viewing and photographing the eclipse.

We'd love you to register at the IceInSpace Forums and don't be afraid to ask if you have any questions. To see images and read reports after the event (and to post yours too!), check regularly in the Observational Astronomy and Solar System sections.

Thanks for this link. It took ages to download but was a great watch. I'm going to watch it again as I think I must have misunderstood. It seems this eclipse on the solstice is really rare but I thought he said it only happens precisely like this every 25,000 or so years!

Anyway I will watch again as it was very interesting. :)

FWIW, here is a list of total, partial and penumbral lunar eclipses. Assuming the list to be accurate, there hasn't been a total eclipse on December 21st although there has been a partial lunar eclipse in December of 1991. :)

Verdic Astrology about the Lunar Eclipse on the Winter Solstice 12/21/10

This is a 30min video about the lunar eclipse next week on the Winter Solstice based on verdic astrology. I don't know anything about verdic astrology, so I can't say much about that, however, some of the things he mentioned seemed interesting. Challenging times ahead according to this chart. Apparently one of the rare transits happening during this time has also occurred during three of the biggest tragedies in recent history: 9/11, Hurricane Katrina and the Tsunami in Asia.

Re: Verdic Astrology about the Lunar Eclipse on the Winter Solstice 12/21/10

Thanks for the link, Spiral Out. Geppi certainly has some very interesting things to say about the upcoming eclipse. Unfortunately knowledge of psychopathy and its influence on human systems is missing from his presentation and assessment of the situation. It seems that the controllers of this world have a very detailed knowledge of astrological and astronomical cycles. At certain points in these cycles humanity is more open or susceptible to various influences. In a just world, those would be times of clear teaching and truth, but in our world, they are times of ruthless exploitation and manipulation of the public mind by psychopaths.

Geppi says that the main areas where this eclipse will be felt are in relations between people; yearning for connection with something higher and more permanent; and law, both cosmic and man-made. Geppi's observations suggest that knowledge of these cycles has been exploited at the times of 911, Katrina and the tsunami in order to shape public opinion and thinking. Therefore, one could say that if there is to be some sort of 'event' that it will happen or at least begin at the time of the eclipse, and will involve those three areas. Perhaps we will see the introduction of a new religion to which people will flock. Certainly the ground for this has been prepared with the discrediting of all the world's major religions over the past 30 years.

Thanks Nicholas. I didn't see that. I suppose the mods can delete or merge this thread.

Re: Lunar Total Eclipse for Europe

Thanks for sharing.

Here is also a similar topic about the eclipse:

http://www.cassiopaea.org/forum/index.php?topic=20944.0

Actually I looked today already out of my window, but had been 24hrs too early. :)

What about spinning during this eclipse? At least this thought came this morning to my mind.

I don't know what to think about its astrological signification, but if you want to watch this eclipse (or take some beautiful pictures), ere are the major moments given in UTC (Coordinated Universal Time) :
http://www.imcce.fr/public/images/site/dec2010.png
If you know the time zone of your location, (for examplein France it is just UT+1) you may convert from UTC into your Local Time and see if it is possible.
Have fun and happy new year.
