I didn't see any threads where this question might fit, though maybe this should go under religion? Or perhaps Baked noodles?

I came across this picture of Krishna today and noticed that he seems to be depicted with a tail!!! I don't recall any stories (Tales- hee hee) about Krishna having a tail, but do recall other stories that involve tails. Maybe I am seeing something in this picture that is not what I think. It even appears to be 'on display'. The 'tail' is propped up on a 'v' shaped apparatus so that it is viewed as an important part of the portrait.

(added the picture as an attachment, as I don't know how to embed it.)

No, Krishna didn't have a tail friend. It looks to me to be nothing more than a bird, if I'm seeing what you're seeing. I see a blue head, beak and eyes.

and you can see peacock feathers on his head. Peacock is often present in Krishna images.

It is a very beautiful bird. ;) As elegant as Krishna.

I share your curiosity about the blue skin. I also for some reason have an association in my mind about the term 'Bluebloods'/Royalty.

What I wonder is why his skin is always blue? I will do a search and see what comes up

I guess 'blue' skin could indicate 'his' Aryan origin:

...
Q: (L) Who were the blue skinned people written about in the Vedas?

A: Aryans.

Q: (L) Were the Aryans originally blue skinned?

A: No.

Q: (L) Why did the Vedas talk about blue-skinned people and why are there blue skinned people in remote areas of the Appalachians?

A: Are whites real "white"?

Q: (L) Were there ever any really blue people?

A: No. They were perceived as blue due to thinness of skin and contrast with native population.

some comments ( rambling ) on this issue. Forgive me for the independent snippets.

Krishna is always associated with Arjuna in Mahabharat. But C's calls Arjuna as fictional. so Krishna fictional?- I don't know. Historisation of myth, Mythisation of History Factor is too big in all religions.

Q: Who was the Queen of Sheba?
A: Fictional.
Q: Did a great queen come to visit King Solomon?
A: Alien influence.
Q: Who was Arjuna?
A: Same as Sheba.
Q: Who is Shiva?

When I read some veda books the theme is always these yogi's saw him in their meditation in some blissful land, playing with gopika's. etc. It all sounded like either parallel dimension at best OR stupidity based on cognitive science at worst Or some combination going.

Then see what C's has to say on hindu philosophy
Q: (L) My first question is: What is the source of the Vedas? The Hindu system of philosophy?
A: There is more than one source.
Q: (L) What is the general source, positive or...
A: A very vague question.
Q: (L) Was it a group of people that put them together over centuries, or was it channeled information, or...?
A: It came into being as a result of meditation.
Q: (L) And what race of people was responsible for this information?
A: Caucasian.
Q: (L) What period of time were the Vedas received.
A: Varying bits and pieces of information which later was organized into packages labeled as it is.
Q: (L) From what realm did this meditated information issue?
A: The realm of the subconscious mind.
Q: (L) Are any of the Vedas information that was given to man by extra-terrestrials?
A: Not as you would define it.
Q: (L) From what types of beings, or what level of density did this information issue from?
A: Third.
Q: (L) Can you give us anything more on that in a general sense?
A: If you ask.
Q: (L) What is the percentage of accuracy of the information given in the Vedas? Overall?
A: Accurate at what level?
Q: (L) Third Density.
A: Accurate to what extent and in what way?
Q: (L) Well, in a general sense, as a way of living one's life and perceiving the universe.
A: That's an extremely difficult question to answer as accuracy in determining such things as perceiving the universe and living one's life is entirely open to interpretation as
anyone can resolve accuracy by relating to the parallel universe which is appropriate for the information given. And, as we have stated in the past, it is possible to create
parallel universes through thought energy, and once they are created naturally, they correspond naturally to the interpretation given for them.

Q: (L) Is there any benefit to be obtained through the use of mantras?
A: Especially when the mind says there is. Remember, most all power necessary for altering reality and physicality is contained within the belief center of the mind. This is
something you will understand more closely when you reach 4th density reality where physicality is no longer a prison, but is instead, your home, for you to alter as you
please. In your current state, you have the misinterpretation of believing that reality is finite and therein lies your difficulty with finite physical existence. We are surprised that
you are still not able to completely grasp this concept.

India is called subcontinent due to too many languages, states, too many variations of casts , levels. Add the 3rd way yogi stuff going on thousands of years and every body has their own way interpreting/ teaching of reality ( while preaching teacher is God), it is almost impossible to find out where it started and where it will end. I have seen Rama ( which c's call neanderthal priest ) in blue, orange skin too. We used to have colorful pictures of the these gods in every room in our house. Blue sounds to be dominant, though I see variations in colors Or is it simply artistic representation

on the lighter side, Here is some main stream discussion about why krishna is Blue.
_http://www.indiadivine.org/audarya/hare-krishna-forum/450938-why-krishna-skin-blue.html
Here is my conclusion on why Vishnu is blue. See these gods are basically powerful mahaarishis who started penancing so hard and subjected their bodies to several types of tortures before attaining god hood. So many a times it might so happen that they have penanced without food water etc and all these have had an adverse effect on their body. So they have slight bluish colur.Aint that cool?

is Bhagavat Gita is real or Bhagavatgita that supposed to be tought by kirshna to Arjuna in Mahabharat happened or not ?. but for me , Bhagavat Gita looks like plugin to the entire Mahabharat myth.
Paramahansa yogananda wrote a commentary on Bhagavat Gita before his death in 1950's and asked to not to release until it until 1990's saying people are not ready to read it. The concept in it is All the character names in the Mahabharat story has different meaning depicting different mental characterstics. So all this sounding like primitive form of movie script adding cognitive science combined it Or Battle of Little 'I's .

There used to be movie actor turned turned chief minister of a southern state called N.T Rama Rao who is famous for Krishna. This guy has a mesmerizing appearance in krishna pose in blue color powder on the skin. His blue color cutouts were teared down in new delhi under supreme court ruling, as his cut outs are distracting too much. This guy is into black magic and no body knows what is that blue color he puts on it. Sounding like some powder with some qualities

Q: (L) I think that taking something like that to transform your consciousness without doing the work or having it occur naturally is black magic. That's what I think. (F) It's
too easy... (L) I think trying to initiate yourself ... (F) I read over the years bits and pieces from various different sources that all the things he described in there are possible
for those who are willing to sacrifice, to us would appear to be an extreme extent ethereal and spiritual level, such as some of those in India, and all that... (L) I don't think
you even have to sacrifice so much as have the desire and the natural destiny and ..... (F) Well, did Jesus take this gold powder? (L) Did Jesus take this powder?
A: No.
Q: (L) Did Adolph Hitler take this kind of powder, or something similar?
A: Yes.

Frankly speaking, I don't know - is it some powder Or artistic representation or some self beating or representation of sky or aryan origions or None of the above.
