Diet & Me

Mountain Crown

The Living Force
In case it may help someone, I thought I’d post that for two years I’ve been gluten free (well, some rice which we know has a small amount of gluten different than what’s in wheat.) It hasn’t been difficult to do even though most of my life I was a major-league sandwich eater, (should’ve been named Dagwood) and the results are great:

There’s no snacking now - weird, eh? I don’t eat until I’m stuffed anymore, I feel lighter, and don’t veg out after dinner either. I definitely feel a difference in my head, although I’m thinking heavy metal detoxing will show more improvement in that area, and I’m taking steps for that now – last month my last amalgam was removed.

The fifteen-year psoriasis on the palms of my hands is about 95% gone - and only those of you who‘ve had psoriasis can really know how good that is. (It was a pretty bad case, but luckily only on my hands.)

I’ve removed from my diet the nasties, (soy, dairy, gluten, hydrogenated oils e.g.,) as well as some items that prove to be allergens for me - nightshades for one, and continue to supplement with vitamins/ minerals, especially vitamins C & D and magnesium.

If it makes sense, I’ll go forward in the diet and health applications because I want to, not merely because I think I should.

To live 4 life...............Sounds like you hit the gland slam, on your dedication to your health Jerry. Way to go, to live for life.

I am REALLY happy to hear this! Psoriasis can be absolutely debilitating even if only psychologically. I'm with you on the clearing of the mind, too! It's really amazing, isn't it?

Yes it is.

I'm grateful to you for many things Laura, including better mental and physical health.

It is truly amazing how much the diet helped.
The gluten free-life made my brain working more properly, when it comes to dairy we are free of it more than two years, but occasionally we had some cheese.
I realized I'm lactose-intolerant 6-7 years ago and although I never liked milk was very hard to give up cheese!
That is all in the past and because Jerry is my husband we eat together, sometimes cook together we did
the change slowly.

If, occasionally, you've had some cheese, you've not been free of dairy for more than two years. ;)

It's great that you've made such good progress overall, though - it really does take years off the body's age, I think.

Way to go Jerry! I too have been happy with this diet. Used to have daily stomach pain and now I almost forgot what that is.

This caught my attention and resonated with me, so, I second that!

Thanks Jerry for sharing. That is inspiring. 2 year free of that crap is quite some WILL skill ! I am happy for you.

That is wonderful news, Jerry, and I'm so happy for you! My grandfather had psoriasis all over his arms and it itched so badly that he would tear his skin scratching it, develop lots of sores, and then scratch them off too and start bleeding. His arms were a mess and he'd put Crisco on them to soothe them, but it never seemed to do much. I remember he loved dairy products and my parents wish they'd known then what I taught them now about dairy!

I've had eczema on my hands for a few years now, but my hands are the softest they've ever been since I started excluding dairy and gluten from my diet. I ate sushi last week, which included some rice and soy sauce, both of which contain gluten. It really set me back, but my hands are starting to look and feel better again since I've been off of them and that makes me so happy..:)

Thanks for sharing this story here. I'm going to call my father today to tell him about you! And to think, my dad is the one who told me NOT to go on any detox diet, but I did it anyway and just barely admitted to him last week that I did and that THAT'S how I found out about my food allergies. I speak so highly of this website and the people on it and I'm just so very thankful that we are all looking for AND finding answers to our health problems together! :)

You're right! I contradicted myself. :-[
Thank you Anart!

That is great Jerry, I really admire everyone here doing this diet, because I know how hard it is! I finally reached my 9 month mark on the diet and I cannot imagine ever touching dairy or gluten again.
My sister also developed a candida overgrowth not long ago and it did not take much to convince her to start a diet. She is making wonderful progress.
She had been suffering from arthritic pain in a finger that she had broken and she says the diet is even helping with that.

Her and I are trying to convince my grandfather who has eczema to try the diet, but he has a big sweet tooth. I'm thinking about making him some sugar free/gluten sweets to show him that the diet doesn't have to be so limiting.

Keep up the good work guys! :D

Way to go Jerry!

That's no small feat, considering how pervasive this junk is! You're an inspiration. :)
