Dinka, a Wonderful Nilotic Ethnic Group from Sudan

The Dinka are a Nilotic ethnic group from South Sudan. They live from the tenth century on both sides of the Nile River and speak a language belonging to the Nilo-Saharan group. They are about three million and are divided into about 21 groups, each with its own legitimate leader.

What a stunning beauty in this kind of life ... When I see this and when I think on horrors produce by "peace" forces in Africa, I am always thinking is this just a set up for a beautiful photograph's, does this kind of world still exist?

Few years ago I meet a producer who worked with a "filmmaker" form one the tribe in Africa, who kind of lives very similar like this, tribal and nomadic, and he is using technology powering his laptop and camera by accumulator or solar power, he is connected to the internet and he is a window to his people to the outer world, and to outer world he provides a window to their comunity ... have to look for the contact and get in touch to see what they did recently ... and would like to know if somene knows more about Dinka's people?

That sure is some good looking humans (and good looking cows as well)

But good looking might not mean good living. I remember from seeing pictures in National Geographic as a adolescent of Masai people, and thinking they had to be about the coolest people I'd ever seen, living on milk and blood, and standing on one leg looking over the savanna in their totally cool outfits, and generally being an exceptionally beautiful species of humans.

But then later in life I saw a program about Masai's and female circumcision, and how a girl was seen as a coward if she resisted having her clitoris crushed between 2 stones, and that made me not really long to be a part of that society, no matter how good looking they are..

Yes, thank you very much for the link, Solarmind! These are beautiful pictures indeed! Some of them made me teary in a way by thinking, if they really live like they are displayed in the picture, it sure looks like a beautiful life. The cows look fascinating too!

As you mentioned the behavior of the so-called "peace troops" in Africa, that fact makes one even sadder - as it contrasts so much with the beauty displayed in the pictures. These soldiers are rapists of children similar to these on the pictures, as their leaders are rapists of the planet (sorry for the strong expression, but needed to get this out).

Uhmmm... yeah... as.... an.... african.... I wouldn't be to easily deceived by idealistic pictures of tribal living that then get all sorts of projections thrown at it by western minds....

Though, in my younger days, I went to school with some sudanese and they were cool... They do have charcoal dark skin... something about sudan...

Btw, the Nilotic group is the group that produces most of the good runners from Kenya.

I think, you are right. Looking at such pictures, the following "voice" sounds like this in the mind: "Oh look! They are so fascinatingly exotic!" As if they were animals in a zoo! "And the pretty landscape where they live! So much better than our ugly cities! Life must be so much better and harmonious among them - it seems so much different from our chaotic, fast pacing lives!" From the pictures, one indeed gains the impression that they may just lead beautiful lives - but I, so at least it goes for me, have never lived among them. How could I know then? So I agree, all the "beauty" one reads into it may really just be a projection of something one wishes to have (which has been the case with me). Feels "good" at times to think like this, but doesn't help much in seeing reality (it is only numbing). I find it really interesting in hindsight, how quick the projection gears went into motion, when I followed that link. But the pics do look beautiful, though... :/

yes that was my thoughts when I looked at that photos, they are beautiful, but what I learned from documentaries I watched, life of tribes in Africa is not easy at all ... that is why I was concerned is it just a photographs that are created to make us feel the beauty that can be, BUT to question is it really the truth.
