Directed Energy Weapons

I recently discovered the following video elsewhere on the web regarding the US Military's research into and use of Directed Energy Weapons.

This short documentary was done by the same Italian TV station (RAI TV) that exposed the use of white phosphorus bombs on the city of Fallujah.

I can't help but wonder what else that "missing" $2.3 trillion of Pentagon money might be cooking up in the labs of Raytheon et al.
