I ordered the DVD a couple of weeks ago and yesterday I finally watched it. This is definitely a documentary of high quality!

What I thought was most valuable in this movie, was the information provided by the scientists and researchers in the fields of archaeological science, paleo and forensic anthropology and biomolecular archaeology. They prove once and for all that the paleo diet IS the most natural diet for humans. Not that we didn't know this around here, but it's nice to hear these experts explaining things in their own way.

One of the flaws I found in this film was the surprising fact that they didn't bring up the role of fat. There's a lot of talk about protein and the dangers of grain and sugar, but the importance of animal fat is almost completely omitted! And then there's this one expert recommending eating fruit! He does say that diabetics should be careful with eating too much fruit, but still one is left with the impression that eating fruit is healthy.

I think that this film falls into the category of 'fantastic - but they didn't get it quite right'. But maybe the idea was to mainly show the historical evidence, in which case this film does a fantastic job. I highly recommend watching this.

I ordered when it first came out and watched it with a friend. I didn't learn a lot from it myself but the other person did. I like the presentation and I think it could be a tool for raising general awareness. I have thought about ways I might be able to show it at work, perhaps at lunchtime. There is some precedent there for doing that sort of thing.

I saw this documentary as well and agree that it is a good intro to the subject of the paleo diet. He goes around the world and discusses with various experts what is the ideal diet for the human being. But as Aragorn mentions it does not cover all the important points of the diet. In the end his recommendation for diet is eating meat, any vegetable, any nut, and any fruit, not going into any discussion about the defense mechanisms in plants. Overall I think it is an informative documentary and would be a good one to show to people new to the subject.

Thanks for posting about this, Aragorn. I came across the website for this a while back when it was still in it's editing stages and then forgot about it. I remember that it looked as if it may have been worth watching.

The perfect human diet - Documentary

I haven't seen this documentary called "The perfect human diet" but it seems that they advocate a paleo-diet to stop the obesity epidemic and various diseases that go with it.

Just thought I'd mention it in case somebody can offer further thoughts on it if it hasn't been already discussed or linked somewhere.

Re: The perfect human diet - Documentary

A while ago, there was some discussion about 'In Search of the Perfect Human Diet' HERE.

I just saw this documentary, very good, good presentation and it gave me a strong interest for our ancestors. I wanted to read more about them. I will do it. It is so important.

There is also the absence of Mrs. Gedgaudas in the documentary. And I agree with Aragorn concerning some incongruousness in the film: the last doctor that goes in the store and recommend fruits, and nuts in quantity. But in general the documentary is excellent for people that want to learn about the Paleo diet, also to have names of specialists and then read their studies or their books, and specially the most fascinating part was when we learn about our ancestors, this part was really, really beautiful.

Thanks for that Aragorn!

I just watched this documentary, too. This video is very good for people who are confused by various modern diets recommended by media, in order to understand why the paleolithic diet is a key to optimum health. As others mentioned, it does not get into important details on Paleo/fat diet. Also, they do not bring up “The Vegetarian Myth”, which I think is the main book that allows us to understand the problems of agriculture and the natural way of human diet.

Overall, I enjoyed the video as an eye opener. It is well done.

Just saw the trailer and I agree with Aragorn.

It can be a good introduction for the general public, it does have many good points that they bring up,
e.g. grains are bad (and that our brains shrunk when agriculture started), that our ancestors were meat-eaters, etc.

They don't get the whole picture (where's all the fat? ) but if this will get people to get off their usual slow suicide diets...it's a good start, osit.

Just watched this film and it really helped me as I was having doubts about this new diet. And just as my mothers says 'a new fad' I am so gonna tell her tomorrow morning that if its a fad 'it's a 2 million year old fad' :)

Loved it.

ifrakhaliq, I merged your post with the already existing thread on this documentary. It's a good idea to search the forum first before starting a thread on a topic in case a discussion already exists on it.

My housemate has just loaned our DVD copy out to someone. That's what I bought it for.
