Dream about expanding universe

Hi I am new but I've wanted to share this dream for about 7 years. In the dream I am watching the universe expand as a bubble, just like to CG animation you see on science programs. Then there is a sudden shift in perspective, and instead of the bubble expanding, I feel freefall and now the earth is contracting, leaving the same sense of expansion, only as a product of retreating from the greater reality. It was like being in an event horizon, with an optical quality to the curvature of spacetime. I remember upon waking having the question- without a proper reference point, how would you know if the expansion, contraction, or both were valid observations? Or is this one of those objective reality/depends on your perspective deals?

It seems like "a proper reference point" would be the key.

In your dream, the observer was exempt from scaling with the universe in the expansion phase, so the magnitude of BEing of the observer was probably the reference point, but I'm just guessing.

Otherwise, if the observer is embedded in the universe he's observing and scales with it, he probably needs to know about starlight redshift and have at least two real length scales: one for the length of eyeballs, and the other for the length of starlight waves. Then, the length of starlight waves will be able to change relative to the length of eyeballs and could probably be measured and calculated somehow. Otherwise, it seems the observer would probably be scaling down with the universe into its compacted state without realizing what's going on until it was too late to escape.

That's about all I'm good for on that question. :)
