Dream or reality

I have a dream that repeats itself constantly since childhood.
I lie on the bed or sleep well the couch. Suddenly I wake up and try to find the light switch. But the light is not on. It remains dark. At the point where I get scared that something can not be right, I start off the ground and fly or hover, but not abandon the area. I can also see it outside and there is a light source that I can not see. Sometimes it is selectively, sometimes I can not recognize the location of the source, but see the light. Then I wake up and have the same feeling as in a dream.
It has also changed over the years something. Once I dream this dream, my mind is in a dream and says: Not again. I want that the switch works. So I can remember in a dream because I had these dreams always. Quite strange.
This dream is so real that I so vividly remember the number and to change my way of thinking in my whole life as if it were the reality.

I've had similar dreams, I figured it was a feeding process by 'inorganic beings' which Castaneda talks about in his books. The idea being that they telepathically put stressful and fearful stimuli into people's dreams and feed off the resulting emotional energy. But that's just an interpretation of the events based on things I've read, I really don't know what's happening or how to find out, maybe by networking?

For me the light switch and the hovering are common in these kinds of dreams. I'll try flipping the light switch because I think I'm not alone and the light won't turn on, and sometimes I'll lift off the ground. I've discovered, however, that the 'light switch' is internal, for me it's possible to turn the lights on by willing them to turn on, not by trying to flip the light switch. Another thing I sometimes do is try singing/yelling/talking, sometimes it's hard, but once I can do it, I feel like I have control of the dream environment... Then I wake up wondering if I've been talking in my sleep.

My experience has also been that these dreams can be related in certain ways to sleep paralysis, I'm curious if this has happened to you as well?
