Dual layer dream.

This is not first time I see "dream in a dream".

I was hanging out at the forest and I saw a samurai who tried to jump from the tree, but on his way he got stuck in branches and was very upset(angry). When I approached to see if he needs help he got even more upset and nervous because of me being close. So I've left him alone, but I was still hanging out around the same place with my friend.
When samurai "unstuck" himself, he yelled: " I'll show you what real samurai fight means" and sword has appeared at my arms. What he said and how he carried himself got me laughing, and I've told him that he is completely harmless to me. That got him really furious and he threw his sword at me which I have "intercepted" with my sword, in such way that I was making circular movements with a sword(in the way how you stir with a spoon), with his sword spinning around mine. I kept spinning it for a while, samurai left in defeat. When I've decided to slow down spinning, and to grab 2 swords at the same time, I was not really careful and cut my finger, I thought I've cut it off completely, but it was just a very deep bleeding cut.

Then I "wake up" in my home, and go to the kitchen, and I tell my mom a dream about samurai fight. She got very excited, happy for me(tears of happiness) and congratulating me that I had a fight with a "samurai". But then I look at my finger and I still see a cut on it with blood and I say: "Wait, if this was a dream, why I am still cut and bleeding?! "

Then I really woke up. On the same arm where I cut my finger, there is fresh long scratch... So it gave me funny feeling of similarity with the dream. But I do not deny possibility that I scratched it during sleep somehow :)

Any thoughts on this dream ?

It almost seems something wanted me to remember the dream and a fight/wound...

What a samurai might represent ? Pride/Honor ?

Hi agni,

Here's my thoughts on your dream here, but remember it's just my opinion, not an definite answer. The dreams can have true meanings only to the dreamer.

Since you might subconsciously scratched yourself, in order to remember your dreams, then I would say yeah, this dream might be important for you in whatever situation you are currently in or will be in.

So, to the dream of samurai: usually, a samurai or a warrior in a dream symbolizes honor and duty, or something more in the line of commitment. Are you facing some sort of commitment in a way currently?

However, if the samurai is unknown to you in life (meaning the face is not familiar), then it might be an objective aspect of your dream (using Jung's concept) whereas this samurai is actually a part of yourself fighting you, osit.

Bleeding: If you are bleeding in two dreams, which might means something like being drained of sort (emotionally or physically?).

I used have a "dream within a dream" a long time ago, to which I had discovered might have something to do with one's emotional state. Are you worried about something currently in life or in future? Or something that stir your emotional state at the moment?

From your two dreams, I see two programs might be playing out:

Fight with a mysterious samurai = "self-importance"

Telling your mother about the "battle" and she's being proud = "attention-seeking"

Dreams can have more than double meanings, and it might be up to you which meaning could apply to you and which feels right. There is no shortcut, discover! =)

I may be wrong with the above, but that's my take thus far. Perhaps others would have a better perspective on your dreams.

fwiw.

Greetings Zadius Sky, thank you for the thoughts.

That's an interesting idea. Many dreams do go unremembered, leaving only feeling/memory that something was dreamt. Well if I subconsciously scratched myself, it's a pretty good reminder of what has happened in the dream.

Samurai face was unfamiliar, and I forgot to mention that he was sent to kill me.

Thank you for mentioning Jung concept. I was wondering about such approach to dreams.

As far as commitment actually I am. It's been on my mind especially intensively lately where I feel I do not commit enough to Work ! I do not commit enough to being more "conscious". But I do feel the need to pull myself together. I am sick of being run by the programs, they do drain me, but only because I allow them to. I know that I can put an end to this, but I do have a problem finding sufficient will, which does result in issue with commitment pretty much to anything. In addition to that I pretty much do not want anything except for may be just being able to observe and think, if even that... which makes me a selfish person.

For being a person injected with narcissistic traits, I do see how self-importance & attention-seeking comes into play. I was reacting as narcissist in many life situations (probably still am), I can see that, usually not right away. Realization of such things come to me in a lag or a delay.

I do appreciate your input.

Hi,

I had a strange experience in a dream last night and I don't know what to make of it. There's a "place" when you are going to sleep where you know you are still awake, but your mind is wandering or going into 'imagination land' and you are half asleep, half awake. In this dream, I dreamed that I was in that "place" imagining this dream. In the dream itself, I was driving my vehicle with a friend in the passenger seat getting on to a freeway and we were side swiped on the passenger side by an 18-wheeler. We had just started to roll from the impact, then I woke up. I am concerned about my friend. She is on a bad road right now, drugs, etc. I offer help when she asks, but it's like "talking to the furniture' sometimes:)

I haven't experienced the imagination/dream within a dream and was wondering what you all make if it, if anything. It was a strange sensation. When I woke up, I was sure that it would have been about 1/2 an hour since I went to sleep and it was more like four. thanks

Edit: Found the answers doing a search. My apologies.
