Just a quick note about the E E page http://www.cassiopaea.org/Eiriu-Eolas/

Seems there are a few random characters in the C's transcript section...
A: {} It should be noted that the STS system can only be penetrated by becoming "wise as serpents and gentle as doves." {} Notice carefully how the STS domination has been created and maintained. It is not done with the objective of promoting knowledge. As you know, it is done with the intent of hiding truth. What is wrong with pointing the door to greater potential knowledge out for those in Darkness? You can shine the light on the door. The choice of opening it and passing within is up to the seeker. {}

I think those are the only ones :)

That is a quote from Session 020622 and I am not sure why those characters appear. Perhaps it could be a case of this although I thought the problem was solved with the newer browsers. :huh:

I just came across this thread and noticed the issue still remains unsolved. I can see three of those odd characters (Using Firefox 3.5.6 and also Internet Explorer 6).

FWIW, I used to encounter them if I marked up a page by copying and pasting directly from a MS Word document into a WYSIWYG HTML editor, if MS Word had Smart Quotes (or some Microsoft term like that) enabled, which would replace certain traditional characters, quotes for example, with more ornate MS Word-only characters (i.e. curly quotes), if memory serves me well - a big "if" these days.

I also seem to remember there were also issues with some other characters as well, like the "oe" ligature, certain accents, apostrophes, ampersands, etc. I don't recall if I could solve the problem by copying from the Word document and pasting into Notepad or if that merely showed the MS Word characters that could not translate to an ASCII character which resulted in these odd substitution characters in their stead.

I believe one solution was to re-open the document in MS Word with the smart quotes (can't recall if that was what they were called) turned off, which would then revert all of the offending characters (apostrophes, accents, ampersands, quotes, etc.) back to their original useful selves.

Anyway, that's what crept off the shelf of my rather dusty cerebral library.

Regards,
Gonzo
