Eight Turkish soldiers killed in PKK attack in Southeast

The attacks against Turkish military started again, and it seems they will intensify. I was hopeful that some changes were on their way regarding democratic rights of Kurds. At least, after all those years, it was open to debate. Yet, as some say, and I also tend to think, PKK is no longer giving the fight of an opressed nation, they have become increasingly nationalist. There is too much to change in Turkey about democracy and rights of minorities, but this isn't the way to do it.

Eight Turkish soldiers were killed overnight in an attack on an army post by members of an outlawed terrorist group in southeast Turkey, near the border with Iraq, the military said Saturday.

The attack blamed on the outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party, or PKK, took place at a military post near the city of Şemdinli close to the Iraqi border, and also left 14 soldiers wounded, the military said in an online statement.

The military responded with helicopters and reportedly killed 12 terrorists, the military statement added.

Fighter jets then launched a bombing raid in northern Iraq where the PKK has rear bases, the military said.

On Friday the Turkish military announced that at least 130 members of the PKK had been killed inside Turkey and in an air raid on hideouts in Iraq since violence flared in March. The military had lost 43 personnel.

The military also said it expected the PKK to further intensify and spread its attacks.

The mounting violence in recent months has clouded the government's bid to seek a peaceful end to the 26-year-old conflict.

The conflict with the PKK, considered a terrorist organization by Turkey, the United States and the European Union, has claimed more than 45,000 lives since it began in 1984, according to the military.

The PKK is an Israeli trained and armed operation.

Well, I am familiar with the connection, yet I haven't seen any documents or footage about it. So thanks.

I feel sorry for both sides who lost their lives because some psychopaths told them to do so. In the past, I would say "Let them fight the war they want, I can't do anything to stop them" but this time it became too painful for me to see the destruction brought upon people. Maybe an effect of EE, but I feel a strong compassion towards those I normally feel indifference.

Exactly. But other dark forces too. In 90's Combined Task Force-Poised Hammer (US Forces in Northern Iraq) gave huge support , both logistically and militarily to PKK. And the list of some countries go on. I don't wanna mention here. But yeah PKK is mostly a Zionist project and nothing to do with Kurdish people' rights. In fact in 80's and 90's PKK killed thousands of civilians in that area and most of them were Kurdish people.
