The Living Force
It appears that eliminating wheat and dairy, and almost all sugar from my diet has eliminated my asthma . I hesitate to say cured as I have had moderately bad asthma for almost fifty years and have taken medication of one kind or another for about 45 years. For the last ten years my asthma has been well controlled with the combination steroid inhaler medicine called Advair. I was taking the lowest dose twice a day as recommended and have been virtually symptom free for many years. I would have an occasional flare up with a little tightness but none of the life threatening attacks that sent me to the ER that I experienced before using this medication. While I was and am grateful for a product that does save lives and improve the quality of life for many asthmatics (sad to say it is expensive and without insurance difficult to obtain) I never let go of the belief that there was a real cure that could happen because although steroid use is preferable to dying from asthma, it is still not living with optimal health.
While I have eliminated the stress of a psychopathic relationship and been gradually improving my diet over the last four years, it appears that strengthening my lungs with EE, cutting way back on rice and organic corn, and removing wheat, oats, soy, and dairy completely from my diet in March this year, have worked nothing short of a miracle for me.
One day toward the end of June I noticed that I had forgotten to take the Advair med. in the morning for the last several days, and was only taking it at night. In the past I could sometimes go a day with only taking one dose, but any longer than that and I would feet the familiar tightening in the chest. This time I felt fine and decided to see how long it lasted. It has been about two months and I still feel great. Two weeks ago I maxed out a treadmill test at a cardiologist's office while still only taking one dose a day at night. The weather and pollen in this area are as bad as it gets for asthmatics and still I am breathing freely even on the Code Red days. I do not know if it is not eating wheat or dairy, or the reduction of inflammation that comes from eliminating them both along with sugar, that has effected a "cure?" I suspect it is the reduction of inflammation and I do not want to eat anything that may cause it to come back even for a short term test. Including more healthy fats in my diet may also have contributed to improving my lung function--it is probably the combination of all the changes in diet, breathing, stress reduction, and supplements that have made this wonderful change in my breathing.
My next step is to gradually cut down on the amount of Advair by using it only at night every other day and continue to step it down from there if there is no problem with my breathing. I am excited and confident that I can be off all medication for asthma very soon thanks to the diet information and other health information that I have learned about here on the forum.
THANK YOU Laura, Psyche, and all others who have made this possible.
