I recently saw the movie, Embrace of the Serpent, and highly recommend it, especially for all those who have read Laura's research on shamans.
This movie was a 2016 academy award nominee for best foreign film and won best film at Cannes 2015.
Inspired by the real life journals kept by Theodor Koch-Grunberg, the film follows the quest of two European explores in search of a rare flower alleged to have healing powers. Though decades apart, both are guided through the Amazon rivers and jungles by the same native shaman, Karamakate. An extraordinary film.
