Evanescence

Twisted

The Force is Strong With This One
Evanescence has been my favorite band ever since they became known. I'd say their style is alternative/goth/rock, or somewhere inbetween there.
The last couple of years the band has been on a hiatus after the lead singer got married. They are now going back to the studio next month to record their third album.
Their previous albums are "Fallen" and "The Open Door".

Evanescence just released a song that didn't make it to the second album and that Amy Lee, lead singer, said, she was "saving for a rainy day".
Well, that rainy day came, and that song is now available at www.unfoundation.org/evanescence. For a minimum donation of 5$ that goes to supporting the people in Haiti, you get the song "Together Again". And even though I'm probably more than alittle biased, the song is hauntingly beautiful!

Lyrics:
I never thought that I'd be leaving you today
So alone and wondering why I feel this way
So wide the world
Can love remember how to get me home to you someday?

We'll be together again
Or just a dream in the end
We'll be together again

So many things were swimming around and around in my mind
Who would have dreamed the secrets we would find?
I found a world where love and dreams and darkness all collide
Maybe this time we can leave our broken world behind

We'll be together again
Or just a dream in the end

I'm not sure how I currently feel about Evanescence. I have some of their music but don't really listen to it anymore. The first time I played one of their cd's, even though the music itself is beautiful, I got very depressed. I've never had that reaction to any music before or since. So now if I do listen to it (which is very rarely) I try to do so with full awareness.

I used to listen to Evanescence sometimes as well. I wasn't a die hard fan but I do like Amy's voice a lot. And actually, it's interesting that you mention feeling sad while listening to their music because I felt the same way. Especially in my younger more moodier days I used to listen to them because their music was so sad and reflected how I felt inside.

I have to say my favorite song by them from the ones I've heard is "Anywhere"

Found a LOTR video version for it which is kind of epic :P

I understand why people can feel sad or maybe even get depressed from music such as Evanescence. I do not get that feeling myself. Well, I guess it depends what mood I already am in before listening to it, but in general I just feel free in some way. It's like there's something in their sound that speaks to my soul. And their music helped me and made me feel stronger in bad periods of my life.
Due to them being on hiatus I haven't listened all that much to them lately, as after a while I got a bit tired of the same old songs all the time, but this new song just rekindled my love for them, and I am overly excited about their new album coming out at the end of this year :D
