I'm not sure how far Ark, Laura and crew are from Paris, but I read online that they got hit with a nasty storm.
Everyone all right?

Poor weather claims man's life in France

Friday, December 08, 2006
A man's been killed as strong winds batter France.

The fifty-year-old died when an advertising board blew over and fell on top of him in central Paris.

Three-hundred-thousand homes are without power in the west of the country.

And a tanker's been spotted struggling in rough seas off the coast of Brittany.

Yahoo news had a longer article but it has sinced "poofed".

All I can say is that the wind is blowing right now and when it rumbles through the tiles on the roof it sounds like an overhead earthquake. We had to run around and close all the shutters awhile ago and one of them nearly pulled me out the window when a gust hit it! It's cold and rainy along with it, too!

I heard there was a tornado in London the other day so I expect that what we are getting now is the same weather system.

Dunno how long the satellite will hold up under these conditions, but as long as it does, we are doing our thing!

Hang in there! Just remember to get to the basement if you have to.

glad things are good yet

Oh crap.

Interior rooms? Enclosed bathrooms? Stuff Laura in a tub and toss a matress on her? :) :)

You guys be careful!

Wondering if upgrades to the system are possible

:D :D LOL!!!

Well, it blew pretty hard for about half the night and then settled down. It was really creepy for awhile! But, I will say that I slept exceptionally well!

I figure that if they built houses like this one in Florida, they would never have to worry about hurricanes! The walls are two feet thick! Now, I just wonder how many trees we lost during the night so I'm going to get out and walk the place to check for damage.

Two foot thick walls? Ah man, now that is a house!

Some of the storms we had this year were really weird. The thunder and lightning sounded more like mortar rounds going off than the natural boom-de-boom we are used to. It's been unseasonably warm, and the cold snaps are nasty. (The arthritis does not like the see saw)

I hope you didn't lose more than a few branches. We live in a woods, and most times its only a few spindley's that get blown off. Now and then we lose a few trees, but its often deadwood. Just nature's way of cleaning up.

Glad everyone is ok!
