Just days away from the mysterious "Phoenix Lights" 15th anniversary, a local FOX TV affiliate cut to a live traffic report web cam just as a bright flash of light exploded on the screen. What was it?

Despite being witnessed by everyone watching the live report, Phoenix officials haven't been able to identify what caused the blast. An explosion that big should have been reported and heavy damage would be expected. How is that possible?

Interesting timing with the anniversary of a widespread UFO sighting. Looks in the video kind of like a transformer blew but the reporter says they checked with the power companies and they said they "didn't have any trouble". Maybe a meteorite? You would think someone would have heard an explosion of this size if it was an explosion though.

Here's a picture. The light right next to her head lasted only a second, got bright really quick and dimmed out fast.

Probably an exploding transformer. Didn't they have a bunch of them out there somewhere in the West last year during weird weather?

Indeed - last June I believe - a quick g00gle search of 'Phoenix transformer explosions' came up with SOTT about 5 links down. :) https://www.sott.net/articles/show/228706-Exploding-Transformers-More-than-meets-the-eye-

Go SOTT!

That's what it seems like but the news report said that the utilities had no record of a transformer blowing.
