Falling Skies is an upcoming alien invasion science fiction television series created by Robert Rodat and Steven Spielberg for TNT, and will start broadcasting in June 2011.[1] The first season will feature ten episodes.[2] The show is produced by DreamWorks Television, with Steven Spielberg acting as executive producer.

Spielberg is certainly at the forefront of ET centric entertainment productions. I guess he is the go-to guy for inserting the desired memes.

Well, at least they are not promoting the 'space brothers' meme! On the other hand, they reinforce the ideas that aliens are just 'smart bugs' and an armed revolt is the way to go.

I watched the first season, and it wasn't too bad IMO. Maybe it started off a bit simplistic as "humans versus bad alien bugs", but it got better as it went on.

SPOILER :D

The season finale reveals that the bug-like aliens are actually mutated-artificial beings controlled by another species of alien humanoids. Definitely sensed a "Orions-controlling-Lizzies-controlling-Grays" vibe there.

I watched the series. Very interesting. At one point one of the renegade characters referred to the 'skitters' as lizards. Not much anything lizard like about those creatures from what I could see. They seemed more related to spiders.

*Spoiler alert* However the 'skitters' kidnapped children and made them wear harnesses which were attached to the spinal cord. It made them docile, obedient, semi-catatonic (IMO) and yet there was a mothering/caretaker quality expressed as they herded the youngsters together at night and watched over them. Next season will air in summer of 2012.
